Well,

The little missus comes home one day and says, “Look what I bought, can you build it for me?” “Of course, I can build anything”, I say as I tear into the bag. My heart sank…A plane…A plane? My palms started sweating as the years rolled back and a child sat in front of a glue encrusted nightmare with drooping wings, just before launching it into the backyard. Hadn’t tackled one of these in 20 some odd years. Well, wasnt nothin else to do but get to gettin and hope for the best. Needless to say I was well pleased with the results, Now, I have the bug and buying more kits than I can afford. Ol’ wifey-poo has also decreed that a four engine bomber shall soon be built in her honor (She has agreed to hold off until after I finish her IV - H. Here are the photos, tell me what you think:

That looks an awful lot like Trumpeter’s F4U-1D. I’ve got one downstairs about 3/4 done. I’ll get back on it if I ever finish this F-105!

You did it justice and it looks great. You can be proud of it.

Thanks for all the kind words gang. BlackWolf, the kit was a 1/72 F4U-1D from Tamiya. Fairly simple and straight-forward build out of the box, didnt require hardly any dickering with seam filling as everything fit very well. Think it took about a week to complete. Nice thing is it gives 3 options (1Navy/2 Marine) with decals and canopies for each, I completed the Marine Okinawa '45 option. Highly recommend this kit to all. I have a 109 Trop that’s begging to be built as soon as my tie fighter is complete.

Hehe…I told her she needed to pose in a bikini with it, but she wasnt taken at all with that idea. Guess I should just be happy she bought the plane in the first place.
