You know what you are doing and you obviously know what snow looks like! Nice detail work. My only small observation is the lack of snow on the gun breech and barrel whilst there is snow on the tops of the wheels and shield. If the gun had been fired I would expect the heat to melt some of the snow and the recoil to shake the rest of the snow off. I am no military modeller and no gun expert. I am happy to be wrong here.
I think it is depicted correctly…Imagine if you are the gun crew…you are hiding behind the gun shield and the snow building up on the gun is helping with it’s camoflauge—however, you would brush snow off of the breech,optics, etc. so that if and when you needed to fire the weapon it would not interfere with that process…I am assuming these Germans were surprised and didn’t have time to get a round off, thus no snow was shaken off of the rest of the gun…
First thank’s to all for the great comment’s. Vespa boy you’r half right. I think there’s to much snow on the wheel’s. The idea was to show an A.T. gun that had recently been fired during a snow fall (kind of hard without putting it in a big glass bowl) Here in N.H. if you pull in you’r driveway and it’s snowing it build’s up quickly on you’r car’s cool spot’s but not over the engine.I sprinkeld a little snow on the ground behind the gun in the mud to show this also but you really cant see it in the pic’s.I’ve only been building dio’s for about two and a half year’s now and feed back like this is just going to help me make my next one even better. Well, it that’s the case then Vespa nailed it…if the gun has been recently fired, there would be little, or no, snow on the gun as the recoil would pretty much “dust” it off…these stand-alone AT guns moved a lot during firing…

My first response was going to be about the pak being clean and too much snow on the tires…before I did, I read other forum responses…we all seemed to notice the same thing…that’s why we post our own work, right? It’s obvious you live where it snows a lot and you know snow tendencies…I do think you need to add some “melted” snow though. I work with the same snow from the industrial size “spice” bottle you buy in the model railroad section…real happy with it, FYI…it mixes well with the scenic glue recommended on the container or thinned elmers. You can also mix it (w/o the elmers) with varied amounts of thinned future to replicate melting snow…you will need to add/dry/repeat to get the look you want, but it works great. (tilt the model to accelerate melting run-off).
Superb figures by the way…hate you for that one[swg]…my figures are amateur at best.

Ok, now that is a really nice diorama. I too think it is one of the best on here for a while. Everything in this is, as the Doog said, is balanced just right. The snow is great, the figures are great and the layout is just right. And it ‘looks’ cold…
