my first poll (paint choice)

always wanted to do a poll and aside from technique and subject choices…paint seems to be the most perplexing of the issues…at least it was for me…

rik,

You picked a good topic. It will be interesting to see how it ends up.

xtracolor for me great range

It’s a toss up for me. I probably use more Tamiya than anything else (which is what I voted for), but I also like Model Master acrylics, Poly Scale, and Citadel.

unfortunately in my area model masters from testor is it. but i am planning to use the others through this thing called online shopping

I mainly use Testors Model Master enamels. I like Tamiya paint but I have a 110 mile round trip to the nearest hobby shop that carries it. I used to make monthly runs down there but with until gas prices come back down I’ll settle for Testors which is only 3 miles away. I am starting to dabble in acrylics a little, haven’t decided which works best for me yet. Too used to enamels.

Model master enamels and extracolor for me. But I am always ready to try something else.

I use Testor’s Acryl or Polly S acrylic.

MM Enamels here as well.

Tamiya acrylics for many years.

Model Master enamels for the most part, as they are te most readily available ones to me.

Tamiya acrylics when I can get to them and Models Master when I can not.

I’ve tried them all and I guess I’m just more comfortable with Testors MM. I never cared for acrylics from any company but I understand why they are popular.

I chose Tamiya, cos I have only ever used Tamiya’s, Revell’s & Humbrol’s Paints.

I like the MM enamels for painting details and figs, but for airbrushing i like Tamiya. Its just eaier for me to work with acrylics.

ty RSaddlemire…
and all y’all for your posts…
seems like it comes down to acrylic v. enamals…at least at this early stage…
my apologies for leaving out xtra colour, polly S & Floquil and i’m sure a few others…

I use acrylics because of the ease of cleaning up. For a long time the only options open to me were were Tamiya acrylics or Humbrol enamals. It didn’t take long to move almost completely to Tamiya. Now there are other ranges available but I’ll only use those if the colour I need isn’t available within the Tamiya acrylic range.

Tamiya acrylics and enamels first, with Gunze Sangyo acrylics and lacquers second.

One suggestion: Please indicate the topic of the poll in the topic title!

MM enamels, primarly due to available color choices. Much less mixing involved.

I use humbrol, I would be willing to try tamiya acrylics, but my LHS only carries full lines in humbrol, testors, and MM. he only carries a limited supply of tamiya and gunze sangyo.
