My first helicopter since 1982!

Hi everyone!

I built Italeri’s 1/72 Seahawk for the husband of a woman I work with. He actually doen’t know he’ll be getting it since it’s going to be a surprise for him. He’s a Navy Seahawk pilot and the kit came with the markings for his helicopter! Talk about luck! So enjoy and I welcome all comments.

Hmmmm…that’s weird. I can see the pictures fine. Can others please post comments and let me know if the pictures are working or not? I ran it through the “Test” forum and they all worked fine there.

Thanks,

Eric

I can see them just fine, Eric. And I must say, they look pretty good to me!

I’m sure your co-worker’s husband will be tickled pink!

I can see it just fine. By the way, very nice job done.

Thank you for the kind words! I probably only post about two models a year and I was worried that the pictures weren’t showing up. When I saw that nobody was posting any comments I thought: 1) the pictures weren’t working, and/or 2) simply nobody cared. Ha-ha-ha! My models don’t seem to garner as many comments as others. Don’t know why.

Eric PM is inbound.

[:)]great build, keep up the nice work.[:)] roy.

Thanks to all for the many kind and encouraging words! Since it was my first helicopter build in 25 years, I can’t really compare it to other helo kits. I was happy with the quality of the fit though and the whole construction was fairly problem-free. Oh, I suppose if I had one gripe it would be that some of the painting guides could have been a bit clearer but that’s why we have the internet, right?

The entire kit was painted by hand using Model Master flat enamels and then weathered using various shades of chalk. I then applied a Testors gloss coat for the application of the kit supplied decals since they were the markings of the exact helicopter of the guy for whom I built this. The decals reacted beautifully to Solvaset and then a Testors flat coat finished it all off. It was a fun little build!

Eric

Eric,

Painted by hand? Man, that makes your build even more impressive! Great job!
