After seeing my Hasegawa “Jill” posted at the ARC site, I was asked to build one by a client. I’m building it with the same extras, Eduard PE and a Squadron vac canopy.
I mixed Gunze acrylics for the Nakajima cockpit color. I hadn’t used Gunze paints in a while. I had forgotten how well they spray. I experienced no “tip dry,” unlike every other acrylic I’ve used.
The bomb and torpedo sights were painted with Alcad steel, and the engine is Alcad duraluminum.
Since I’m building this gor someone else, I find that I’m putting more care into it. So far, I like it more than mine ! Maybe I should build all my stuff for other people !
Thanks therriman, dragonfly, Swanny, lerxst1031, Harshman, hikarux, A6Efan, ygmodeler, Brian, and Rick !
Doing the wash and drybrush were a little more difficult with this one. The base color is acrylic, and I always use enamel washes & drybrushes. I had to mix a close color with enamels, then add black for the wash, and white oil paint for the drybrush. I don’t care for generic washes and drybrushes. I’d rather mix the base color with black and white. To my eyes, it looks more like natural shadows and highlights.
Hey,
Beautiful work! Where do I sign up to receive your catalogue [:)]? I’m sure your client will be very happy to see the finished product on his/her shelf.
