my first aircraft

I normally build automobiles , but i want to build something new, any on got any good jet models for begginers, please nothing snaptite, i may b new to it but ive been buildin models for like ten years, so any suggestions

Where to start? Depends on what kind of jet aircraft you find interesting. Do you like early jet aviation or modern day jet fighters? If early, I’d go with a F-86 Sabre or the Messerschmitt Me 262. I’ve built the Hasegawa Sabre - that’s a great kit that goes together smoothly. I have the Tamiya 262 on my bench but have not yet started it. It looks like a typical high-quality Tamiya kit. Both of these are 1/48 scale, which I would recommend. 1/72 can be a bit small for certain subjects like WWII fighters; 1/32 is big and chock full of detail but modern day jets will cost you a lot of $ and they tend to take up a lot of space.

The only modern jet I’ve built is a Monogram F/A-18. Went together good, no real complaints, but it is a bit cheaper cost-wise than Hasegawa and Tamiya kits.

Staying with the modern theme. Revell’s 1/48 F-15E is a nice kit. Good fit, Good Details and runs about much cheaper than a Tamiya or Hasegawa kit. She is a big plane but very workable

Good luck and tell us what you may be leaning towards.

For a “firster” in a jet thing I recommend the Revellogram SR-71 Blackbird.

It goes together nice, it is already the right color, so all you have to do is decide which type of dullcoat to use, the decals are accurate, and it includes the little drone that shook up the Chinese during the Nixon adminostration, which can be mounted seperately or on the plane.

Also, there is a lot of info on this bird on the I-net and also in books dedicated to it.

As a car-fan, you might think about this:

The Ashland Oil Company (makers of Valvoline motor oil) got the exclusive contract to make the special fuel for this bird which had a combination jet/rocket motor. [;)]
