Well after about 1463 tries[;)], I think my first figure head is done since my hiatus from modeling.

He will be the TC for the Panther in my sig. What do you think and does any one know of any good articles on the web of painting German WWII camo?
Thanks,
Brian.
Looks good to me, how did you paint him? Details please…

Looks really good from here, especially the eyes, which are always a tough thing to get right.
Gasser,
Well I found an article in an old copy of Military Miniatures in Review #22 at a show on Sat. with an article on figure painting. I used Windsor & Newton and Grumbacher oils for the flesh and Testors Model Masters enamels for the hat.
Step one: worked Burnt Sienna all over the face, working into all the nooks and crannies then working from the fore head down, brushed off a good deal of the paint from the high spots with a clean stiff brush.
Step two: Created a 50/50 mix of Flesh Tint and yellow Ochre (both W&N) then gently dry brushed this onto all the high spots blending it into the Burnt Sienna (Grumbacher)
Step three: same as two only with a fresh brush and Titanium White (W&N).
Step four: mixed a small amount of MM Flat Red with the mix from step two and pained the lips with a shaved down tooth pick. The hair was pained with MM flat black as were the eyes, crease of the mouth and hat.
Step five: Brushed some Raw Umber (Grumbacher) onto the flat black of the hair after the black was dry. Dry brushed the hat with some dark grey enamel, and pained the insignia with Aluminum enamel (MM)
Step six: Touched up the crease under the chin and the hollows of the cheeks with some burnt sienna blending this into the high lights and added some white to the corners of the eyes.
I made at least 15 to 20 tries before I was happy with it; all in all it took about 2 hours.
Later…
Brian.
Thanks, sounds like alot of fun…

Hey thanks for the great posts guys.
I agree. The eyes are the first thing anyone will naturally tend to look at on a fig, and yours is done very very well
Looks very good for a first try, keep up the good work.
p.s Im still trying to get a good result with eyes and Ive being at it for years.
