from what I have heard they dont have the greatest selection, here in my part of cali we have got hobbies unlimited, hobby town usa and a couple more I havent even visited yet, and anything i cant find there i just use the internet for. gotta love the bay area, where are you hailing from?
San Joaquin County. For the chain store we have Michaels[yuck]. After that I have two small shops within about 45 minutes[BH]. I don’t mind going through the web to get the kits. It’s just getting paint and other stuff is a pain in the [XX].
I completely understand, before I loked around and discovered the places near me I had nothing but testors
I’ve never heard of those folks… But I do have THREE first rate hobby shops within a 20 minute drive from my home!!!..(The Military Shop, Military Hobbies, Brookhurst Hobbies) We’re pretty lucky in north Orange County
There are four good stores in Sacramento, Riverside Hobbies and Viking Hobbies are pretty much all plastic. Airborne Hobbies and RC Country have both R/C and Plastic kits. In Vacaville there is a Hobby Town. Help, they have me surrounded and I have no will power!!! [BG]
I know its a drive, but on a good day head down to Fresno to HobbyTowne USA on Bullard. I used to frequent it weekly, great selection and good, knowledadgable people working there. I moved to LA four years ago and sure miss it. We HAVE Hobby Lobby here. With input from our club, one of the two stores now has more than a shelf-full of kits, with a growing selection of Armor and ships. At the end of the year, those items that are being dropped from the store inventory catalog are put on serious discount. I snatched up a LOT of kits in January on final discount. However, knowing the difference between the two, Ill take a GOOD , model-intested (not catering to RC) hobby shop anyday.
