My Completed 1/72 scale Russian BMP 1 and 2S1

Here are my completed models of the other two kits I was working on while building the BMP1A1 ‘Ost’. [xx(]

The first is my BMP 1 built for my Russian Army:

and to support it in the attack, I built this 2S1 Gvozdika Self Propelled gun:

It’s amazing to me that I got a 1/72 scale model of a RUSSIAN Self Propelled gun long before anyone thought of releasing a 1/72 scale US made M109 Paladin! After all, there were models of the M1 Abrams long before the T-80, so you’d think the Paladin would have been released sooner. [8]

Even more great pictures. Seems to be more 1/72 getting posted than 1/35 recently. Maybe Dwight was right about the storage thing. Thanks for posting Duke.

Thanks lizardqing! I appreciate it!

Yeah, storage is great with these little guys! I can keep five of these in the same space as a single 1/35 scale kit that is NOT on a base! That is a good thing since I now have 393 Tanks, trucks, APC’s, arnored cars and artillery pieces built. I need all the space I can squeeze out!

Looking good!

Y’all are going to make me try one of these brail scale kits aren’t you!

Good job there Duke. Nice to be one of the Braille Scaler’s.[;)]

That’s quite a collection you’ve got there Duke, and those latest two are very sweet looking…! What’s next?

Duke:
looking good !
love the subtle camo on the 2S1…[tup][tup]
that’s another fine couple of afvs 2 add 2 ur collection (wow, almost 400
of these is pretty impressive ! )
the Duke rules !
(hey, we may convince a few more folks to try 1/72 at this rate !)

yeah, I’m working on my 1/72 revell M1a1 (HA) and will post pics, Chris. unfortunately I won’t be working on it till January as I took a slap shot last night in the arm playing hockey and my right hand is very stiff and its hard to do anything with it.[:(][banghead][tdn]

those look nice BTW esp. the 2S1

Very nice Duke. Thanks for sharing the pictures with us.

That’s a great duo, Duke. Just as I have expected. Really nice build. You braille scalers are really putting it on lately. Glad to see it done.

LQ2: I hate to say it but as I am building my Concorde and soon my Panther D, I don’t have any idea where to put them. My shelf is full and the new house is nowhere near done. 1/72 or 1/76 is becoming an option for me, too.

Great job on these Russian vehicles, Duke. Braille scale rules!

Btw, I have Revell’s PzH2000. Ive heard rumors about a 72nd M-109. Has a kit been released already? What brand? Thanks!

[tup][tup]

Thanks everyone! It is great to see my work appreciated by such a talented and august group of modelers!

Thanks Frosty! I still need to catch up to your skill though!

m1abrams, I know kinda what you’re going through. I’ve been building these with a pretty serious case of tendonitis in my elbow. Hurts like the devil! The brace is helping somewhat.

What’s next DJ? Well, I’m half done with the next ones!

I’m working on a 1/72 scale ACE Russian BMP 2, and for fun, I did a day-build on two 1/76 scale JB Models kits: an Australian M113 Fire Support Vehicle, and a British Saracen APC. I also started an ACE 1/72 scale Iraqi T-55 Enigma Tank which is giving me fits! I’ll try to post some WIP pics of it soon. Meanwhile, I’m building a 1/72 scale Piper Cherokee, a 1/72 scale Piper Aztec, a 1/72 scale Su 7 Fitter, and a 1/72 scale UH 1C in Australian Markings. Oh, and I’m also about to finish a Space Shuttle for the widow of a former IPMS club member that he was building for her when he passed.

Allan, I have Revell’s PzH 2000 also in 1/72 scale. It was a great kit to build! It went together very well with no fit problems and was a joy to build. I built it back awhile ago. Here’s a pic of it:

I haven’t even heard Rumors of an M109 in 1/72 scale! I’m still waiting! I need at least four, maybe five for my different Armies!

Speaking of Armies, here is a picture of one corner of my Hobby Room. It shows my German Army on three shelves, some of my British Army on the middle shelf, and way at the bottom, my Italian Army.

Sorry about the wallpaper, it was up when we bought the place. Too many shelves up to take it down now! And yes! I hand-painted all those 1/72 scale figures too! My German Army has over 500 troops painted, while my British Army numbers about 200 or so. Altogether I think I painted over 1875 figures for all my Armies.

Keep in mind that photo was taken seven years ago. Both armies are a little bigger now!

Thanks again for all your comments! And a big Thank you to Ron George for allowing me to post on his site and continue hosting everyones’s photos!

Great collection of completed kits, Duke. Someday soon, my collection will also reach that quantity. Awesome job on the PzH2000. Good weathering, too.

Keep posting man.

Thats a huge collection, Duke! Compared to your army my collection is just a detachment. If there is ever going to be a scale model war Im taking your side.[:D] Thanks for sharing that.

Thats a good looking PzH too. Ive built one of mine myself (I bought 2 of that), and youre right, its such a joy to build.

Ill drop you a line if I ever come across a 72nd M-109. Ive been waiting for years for that myself. [:)]

Sweet! Thanks Allan! Hopefiully someone comes out with one soon.

As for my Army, well, you’re only seeing a fraction of it in these pics. I’ll have to get more so you can see the full effect.
