Great job!

A great looking Mustage thanks for the pics…

Very nice P-51. What is the basic finish? It looks almost like Bare Metal Foil or something similar.

Outstanding finish.Keep it up.

Very nice build! Thanks for posting.

Thanks everyone, I’m very pleased that my work is appreciated here by so many fine modellers.
I have been fasinated by “Cripes”, since I first learned of the New Zealand warbird, that was brought back to the states in the 70s, and was restored in these markings. I also followed its story in an issue of Air Classics magizine, back in 1975
I first saw it in person, at Oshkosh, 1976, when it was in it’s first paint scheme.
It was painted overall silver Imron, and had the invastion stripes that went all the way around.
I was thrilled to see that after a wonderful re-restoration by Kermit Weeks, that he decided to keep it as “Cripes the 3rd”, but this time as a polished bare metal airframe with the revised stripping.

And to answer the question, it is Bare Metal Foil. I believe it used a whole sheet (this was built about 10 years ago).
And for those of you that didn’t recognize it, this is the good ol’ 1/48 monogram kit.
I think I paid $5 for the kit, $5 for the decals, and $8 for the foil.

Thanks again, and I will be posting more pics. of my air force, in the future,
Leon.
