Seems I finished my kit the day before they postponed the build. So figured I would post it anyway. Might still join in it again with a Belle when it gets fired back up again.
This is the Accurate Minatures SBD3 Dauntless. Completely OOB since I would not even know where to start with the AM stuff on a plane. There are some seams that are messed up due to the thing wanting to take a practice dive bombing run one day when it was almost complete. Problem was not the dive, it was quite beautiful, problem lied in the fact that it did’nt pull up in time. Nose first into the floor. Ok enough excuses, here is my first really try to build a nice target plane. Such a shame there is not another wingy thing kit on my shelf. [:D]
So now that you have a tread heads feeble attempt at a plane, laugh away! [:D]
Thanks guys.
The kit was pretty good actually. Very detailed. Detailed to the point that I spent 2 hours fiddleing with some bar things in the cockpit that can’t even be seen. I was really impressed with the instructions. Not used to haveing it layed out like that and every piece labeled as to what it is and not just a number. Really made it interesting. Not to mention the stray comments put in them like " We told you it was a good idea to read these instructions" and “Ignore the fact that the L and R are mislabled. Most bombs have the pointy end forward.” At least they have a sense of humor about thier mistake. Now if someone could get AMT to do the same.
Thats a Dauntless…LOL[:p] Seriously though, you did a fine job on the AM kit.
What did u use for the panel lines? Would you ever consider doing another AM kit??
Flaps up, Mike
Thanks Mike. For the panel lines I just did a wash like I do on armor, except that I went back over them with a real light mist of paint to knock down the hardness look, if that makes any sense.
That’s very good, Chris! In fact, it’s rather depressing since most of my wingy thingies don’t come out that well! [:D] Plus, I’ve always wanted to build the AM Dauntless! You should try their Avenger series! Oh, and AM kit instructions really are fun to read! [:p]
Great job… sorry I closed the build but I said why [;)]. You did greta on that bird and cant wait to more plane builds, hope you enjoyed your time in the clouds[;)]
Wonderful work Chris!
I want to build a few of them myself since it’s one of my favourite a/c.
Keep up the good work mate![tup][tup][tup][bow][bow][bow]
