Upon inspection it’s easy to see why. That is a very fine piece of work you have there. Congrats!

Congratulations! A well deserved entry!

I’ve built that kit before. Back when I was 13 or 14 I built it before going to my grandparents’ house for one of the major holidays. He was shot down in a B-17 towards the end of the war in Europe, and I thought it would be a cool present for him. I spent 2 months building it because I wanted everything to be perfect. It was pretty good, but it didn’t hold a candle to the work you did there. Really impressive looking build. Congrats on your well deserved recognition.

I built a Revell B-17 when I was 6 years old in 1956. There was glue all over the place (real glue bomb). However, I was happy with the reults. I think back then the B-17 was not made to any real scale. It was made to “box scale”. The B-29 and B-36 were also made to box scale. They were made so that they would fit into a box of a certain size. Am I correct??

I just saw it and thought WOW! I am one for using rattle cans and you really did an excellent job with balancing all the variations of green.

Hmmm;

Nice piece of work . T.B.

First I painted the bottom with Dove Grey. I masked the Grey and then painted the sides and top with Olive Drab. When that dried, I painted the top with Tan. I lightly misted the Tan from a distance so that it blended into the Olive Drab. All painting was done with Rattle Cans. When that dried I used a thin wash of artist paint.

Rattle cans? Now THAT is some TALENT. Its easy to see how this made it into the Reader’s Gallery.

Major Congratulations! :smiley:

excellent, congrats!

Congratulations on a well-deserved approbation. The paint job is really nice. (Rattle cans, Sheesh!)

And a well-deserved place it is! Beautiful work!!! [Y]

Fabulous work ! and a big congratulations for making the gallery.

They say imitation is the best form of flatery. i want mine to look just like yours Bro.

Thank’s everyone for the kind words.

Regarding rattle-cans: the Tamiya spray cans are way superior to the Testors spray cans due to Tamiya’s nozzel. Tamiya’s nozzel produces a very fine mist of paint that is easy to control. Plus, there is very little orange peel. Testors nozel produces a heavy output of paint, making it difficult to control.

I’ll have to keep that in mind. I’d been using the Testors rattle cans but maybe I should switch to the Tamiya ones for next time.
