Just thought I’d share a little something I did. Since I don’t have an overabundance of room in my house I thought I’d just try my hand at a small diorama. I got the idea from a WW2 picture I saw of a primitive forward airfield out in the Pacific. They had fuel tanks and bombs stacked everywhere especially around the planes which were about to be loaded prior to a mission. That’s why I added the bombs lying around nearby. I hope everyone enjoys this.
Thanks to everyone for the nice feedback. I’m really happy with this one. Those early MTO planes really took a beating. Yes this is the Accurate Miniatures kit. It was a fun little one. I used Model Master enamels with lots of pastel chalks for weathering. For the paint chipping I used the old “paint the undercoat silver then use masking tape to take bits of the topcoat off” technique. That method has always worked pretty good for me. The part that I liked the most about doing this extremely (emphasis on EXTREMELY) simple diorama is the fact that it really adds life to the plane more so than just having the plane itself sit on my shelf. I got a lot of hints and tips from the FSM forum. Thanks to all for sharing their knowledge.
