After receving the March Issue, and reading about detailing armor. I thought about putting the model together along with the magazine. So I started last night on it, and worked on it more today. While installing the individual suspension arms and assembling the running gear, like the guy in the magazine putted it together, theres alot of parts at the begening. It also listed to after market supples, a turned-aluminum gun barrel and a small photoetched-metal detail. If I can’t find them in my local Tamiya store were could I find them?
I haven’t seen the article yet but I’d suggest looking at the Armorscale barrrel and mantlet set. http://www.armorscale.com/products/barrels35/B35-053/ This provides the barrel, a resin mantlet and a turned brass muzzle for the coax MG34.
I’m not sure which photoetch detail set you’re referring to, but Tamiya had a proprietary set covering their Pz III/Stug III range (part no. 35199), which provides mesh for the engine grilles and muffler area.
FM Model: FYI: there are probably at least five separate companies that do photo etch for the Tamiya Pz III L. Unlike some aircraft models, 1/35 tanks (especially Tamiya German ones) have multiple aftermarket kits. If you need more info, try this:
T26E4, Thanks for the links those will be very helpful. I’ll have to get tracks from somewere, Im not using those cheep rubber prebuildet strips.
And while I was at the hobby shop getting paint for my panzer, I saw a 1/35 Dragon '39-'45 Sd.Kfz. 182 KingTiger Porsche Turret. I got this kit over the Tamiya, becuse the Dragon was 5 or so dollors cheeper and it came with a metel gun barrel and metal detail all inside. I’ll have pictures of that later. Thanks again T26E4 for those links.
I’ve made little progress on the Panzer, but I catch’en up the King Tiger to its level. On the Drgaon’s King Tiger I don’t need to look for after market supples, it comes with everything I need.
The wheels fitted together so nicely I didn’t need to glue them together.
