I apologize for the poor picture quality, but I had to use my phone as I do not have a digi cam…
I am using the painting guides from my 1/72 scale RoG model as a guide and it has been very tedious masking and painting all the various panels and camo scheme. Esp. considering the scale! I need to either borrow a camera or use my old 35mm SLR to photograph a bunch of my models to share here-those I can have loaded onto a disc, but process means trip to the store and then wait for several days.
It is a Trumpeter kit and it seems like a very good kit with good detail for 1/144 scale. My only minus was a nasty seam on the bottom to fill where wing met fuselage.
Painting is complete with the exception of the exhaust area. The canopy is still covered with a masking film.
Very nice work…especially for a scale so small. I could never build something that small, especially since my eyes aren’t what they used to be and considering my hobby work area is so messy, I would lose it!!!
Seriously? My vision is not so good, so I sit here working with my bifocal eyeglasses, then I have a pair of reading glasses that I perch on my nose in front of my regular glasses! When extremely close detail is needed, I remove both pairs and hold my work inches from my face! (I am very nearsighted!) I also have a lighted magnifier that is mounted on an arm to use! I don’t know why I torture myself like this…
jimbot58 - Have you been looking in my workroom window? [:O] You just described me to a T. I wear bifocals, keep a pair of 2X reading glasses hanging around my neck, and have a large lighted magnifier on the left hand side of the workbench. For a while, I thought the 2 pair of glasses was rough to work with until I needed the magnifier too. It took me a while to get used to all three together. We torture ourselves because we like to do what we do.
Excellent work, especially on such a tiny bird! I have the same kit in my stash, and it looks like a beauty in the box. I’ll be watching for more updates on this one.
Guess I hadn’t thought about hanging my reading glasses around my neck. I guess I’ve done everything else to resemble my Grandfather…might as well try that!
