My 1:48 Tamiya Mustang - Inside Out!!!

hello! just want to share to you my current in-progress build… it’s nearing it’s completion… some of the mods that I did:

  1. modified the mounting brakets for the drop tanks, added fuel lines
  2. improved the landing gear by opening the molded details and adding brake lines
  3. cockpit: OOB except Eduard PE seatbelts
  4. showed inside ribbing for wing and tail section
  5. Aires gun bay, engine
  6. Foil on the fuselage

comments are most welcomed!

btw, the intake duct going to the scoop was already corrected.

thanks for browsing!

Wow,that looks great!how was the build for you ?

Very nice detail! I love those mustangs

Very nice work. Don’t see many cutaways. Thanks for sharing.

Regards, Rick

Cool! [tup][tup]. Maybe even the people who find yet another Mustang to be boring, will enjoy your build!

Andy

wow everyone took the word out of my mouth stunning it will look even better with the decals on!-brad

That looks cool mate. Different from your every day Mustang model. Thanks for sharing.

fun! it’s my 1st time to do this kind of extensive scratchbuilding…

is there a particular story with this bad boy, overhaul maybe? or did you just want to try your hand at scratchbuilding? either way, i think it’s pretty neat. You did a good job!

First off…WELCOME!!! and AWESOME job on the Mustang!!! You’re going to submit a photo to FSM Gallery when she’s done, right?[:)]

RadMax8 - completely new kit. the inspiration came from Jayne’s cutaway models featured last year in FSM. My 1st plan was to do a cutaway P-47N, but due to lack of references I chose the P-51D for my 1st cutaway project.

Dragonfire - hopefully, I can get one of the good photographers at my local club so that i can submit a good picture to FSM! That will be an honor if I will be picked.

Dude, you’re a masochist![^][:D] Thanks for sharing your pics with us. Ever thought about a cutaway B-36?[:P]

Your build looks great

Thad

Very cool[:D][8D] I especially like the fuel lines to the drop tank.

Thats pretty cool! Interesting take on a much modeled aircraft! I like it!

Wow, that looks great! I’ve always like cutaway models.

Thanks for shaing the photos.

Are you going to drill out the gun barrels on the side that’s not cut away?

Regards,

I love cutaways and tried to start a GB for one, but alas no takers. It looks great, would love to see a description of how you went about it.

I agree with waikong above - would love to see a description of how you did it all.
Well Done!

Wow! That’s a lot of work. Nice job and welcome to the forum.

Jerry

[#welcome][#welcome] to the forum. [wow] what a way to start out! The internal details on your Mustang are fabulous. That shows a tremendous amount of patience and effort, not to mention the research needed to determine what the inside of Mustang looked like. Congratulations on a job well done!
