This has been my project for about two months now.
It is the tristar kit that comes with model kasten tracks.(those are a joy unto themselves)
I added a Verlinden interior set because I wanted the hatches open, so it has a full interior. However, I had to modify the transmission and leave out the final drives so the hull halves would fit together. I added some exterior details from my spares, mostly PE stuff.
I haven’t done any figures in the past couple of years. They aren’t glued down yet. Let me know if you think it is better with or without.
It looks fantastic! Really very well done. I have a few questions.
How did you find the Kit (outside of the tracks)?
Where did that base come from?
What is your overall opinion of Tristar figures? (I’m trying to get my paws on some)
Cheers,
David
Fantastic little build. Love the weathering, it’s subtle, but effective.
ackman,
Love it. Nice weathering. I agree with zokissima in that it is nice, subtle but very effective. Figures look good to me. Who makes them by chance??

Looks Great!
Looks wonderful
I think you could go with or without the figures,
IN REPLY:
The figures came with the kit, which I found on GMW.
The kit itself went together well, good plastic and great overall fit. I had one or two really small spots I had to fill with putty, nothing major. A great deal for the price. It was my first experience with tristar, they are going to give the big boys a good run.
Jifor, the base is a sandwich board from IKEA with a Tamiya European cobblestone road section glued to it. Looks just like my street outside.
For the weathering, I wanted the model to look like the crew has just moved to, or is taking a break during the movement to the border on Aug 30, 1939.
Thanks for the comments!!!
Very nice. I always had a soft spot for the early gear.
Ackman,
You did a bang up job. I really like the weathering.
One question, what prompted you to use Verlinden’s set as opposed to the Tristar interior set? I have the kit as well and am thinking of ordering the tristar interior as well as a full set of Aber.
Your opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ted
Cool little build. Nicely effective weathering. I’d leave the figures in, they compliment your build.
[:D] very nice build,great work [:D]
Very nicely done! I would also leave the figures with the tank. Both the tank and the figures really compliment one another. Semper Fi, mike
very nice build. I cant wait to get my kit. heres what I think about the figs: They add a nice touch to the model, they give it some life. But the commander hides the detail of the turret interior. So I would take the commander out and put him on the ground or replace him with another figure and put him, maybe having a conversation with another soldier etc. If it was me I wouldnt want to hide the detail.
O, and if you were asking if you figs were good, id have to say yes,
Thanks for the information Ackman…great looking kit!
Great work Ackman. Those tracks do look sweet. I wouldn’t glue the figs in if you don’t have to. Alot of people are doing that kit for the Pz I group build in August. If you want to build another one you should join in.
Nice work on the li’l Pzr I!
I think your figures look fine.
ackman,
I’d have to say exceptional job. I’d give it [tup][tup][tup][tup][tup]. The weathering is very convincing. Thanks for sharing.

Tediam,
I went with the Verlinden interior basically because I didnt know there was a Tristar interior.
Also, I hadnt worked with tristar before, so Im glad I went with what I know, although Verlinden can be a pain sometimes. The gear shift lever gave me alot of grief, it popped off everytime I did a test fit.
Also, the MGs are Italeri, I didnt like the amount of surfce detail on the kit MGs.
nice excellent job
