MUTT M151A2 and M3 Stuart

Hi all!

Both kits are from Academy. Some scratch-built parts, painted with rattle cans, weathered with enamels and pastel chalks. [:D][:D]

M3 Stuart (Japanese captured)

Both look great. I like the weathering. One comment, the M151 could not carry a .50 cal. The vibration when firing was too great and would crack welds on the vehicle. The largets weapon it could carry was an M60 MG. Looks good though. Gotta love the Academy M151 kits.

Very nice work. excellent detailing. Thanks for showing your work. Semper Fi, mike

Hi Lipton,

Those are amazing pieces of work. Great details, too.

hmmm, guess i won’t be showing my M3 for a while…did you use indy or one piece tracks!?

[:D] those are great looking models, keep up the good work[:D]

Painted with spray cans.Wow, very nice. I lke the weathering looks nice and worn. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the comment, and I must say many agrees with you that the .50 is a no-no on this vehicle, however I got this picture as one of the references i used on this build:

Maybe they used a different mount for the .50 and a modified flooring for the vehicle, problem is, I can’t find a detailed photo. [:(][xx(]

Maybe you can help me? [;)]

Interesting photo. I will qualify my answer further. Not in US service, it was not authiorized for the above reason. The photo looks to be from an Arab army, possibly Egytian or Kuwaiti. Don’t know how their setup was/is. Interesting, its an M151A1 in the picture too.

Nice looking Mutt and Stuart. Excellent job of building and weathering. I’ve built the Mutt kit except with the TOW launcher and found the fit and finish to be superb.

Great looking builds!!

Well thought Sir. So I think the US versions really don’t allow this configuration. I will remember this. [:I] I guess if this photo is indeed from an arab nation, then my chances of finding detailed photos will be next to impossible… LOL [:D][:D]

Again, thank you.

I would like to say that i’ve had the honor of seeing these kits up close, and the pictures hardly do it justice! Do yuo guys see that padlock on the back of the spare tire? The darned thing moves just like the real thing! I think Lip is going blind from all the SUPERB details on his stuff!

I have yet to examine the stuart but judging by the mutt, it must be cool aswell! [8D] Imagine what will happen when he finally gets and Airbrush! [:)]

Your work is great, man! don’t be too humble on this one because you really deserve the conmpliments!
You rock, Lipton! [:D]

I am more than just highly impressed, They are both superb pieces of work. Well done!
Could you explain the marking on the Stuart? They would seem to be both Japanese and American.

Lipton,both are outstanding builds.Digger

Really nice work. Thanks for sharing.

Nice builds, though not authorized, I have no doubt that some enterprising US GI’s might have mounted a 50cal on a 151(A1 & A2), some CO’s in Vietnam would kindly look the other way. I have seen photo’s of Vietnam guntrucks mounting whatever they could beg, borrow or steal in order to get the job done. Wonder how many rules are being broken in Iraq for the same purpose?

The Japanese captures some Struat’s during the invasion of and the surrender of US forces in the Philippines. That is the reason for mixed markings.

Thanks for sharing they are two keepers.

Shrikes and to all of you, thank you very much. What more can I say… [:I][:I]
