MUD!!!!

Hi everyone, I missed the last post on this subject so I thought I would bring it up again. I was told that this might be the best place to answere my question. I am going to build a diorama of a battle scene of Stalingrad and I was wondering what is the best way to weather my tanks??? Also does anyone know what tanks the germans used in Stalingrad mostly??? I want to make sure that Im using the right ones. Thanks.[:)]

Well, I do know for a fact that they used the towed anti-tank gun Pak 40. That’s thanks to the computer game Call of Duty [:D]

heres a link to the last mud post.

For general weathering, drybrushing and a wash will deffinetly help. You could also add scratches with a no.2 pencil.
for a light dusting you can highy dilute tamiya buff or red brown for a darker effect.

the germans had lots of stuff. some were
Pz III’s
sdkfz 251 ausf c halftracks
Pz Iv’s
Various armored cars and trucks
those are all I can think of right now, I dont know about any other stuff.

Thanks for the tips guys I will try that and will start sending pictures of my project very soon. [:D]

Oh yeah just incase you guys didnt know my project will be 1/35th scale (of course)[:D][:D]

Manray, I know we discussed this in a e-mail but like with the other one someone might benefit from this. (Or not.)

To answer your question on the types of tanks the Germans used, the earlier the type the better in most cases. Like the Panzer IV up to the version F2. The version F or F1 is the one Tamiya makes with the short barrel. And the version (auf. in German) F2 is the one with the new longer barrel and usually no side plate armor (usually). The Panzer III you can use most versions I believe right up to the auf. M. Also most of the Stug III auf. A, B, and C. But the Stug IV i’m not to sure about. By this time in the war there were BUNCHES of the Marders running around. Like the Tamiya Marder III, if you can afford it! One more thing I like to remind people is that the first units in Stalingrad were the Recon/Scouts. They used the light and fast tanks and the smaller Half-tracks. If you use a larger half-track try to get the 250 auf.C (made by Dragon/DML), the auf.D (made by Tamiya) would work because there is really not that much of a difference, but the new Dragon kits are just to cool.

Best of luck.
