Hey guys, I just got the tamiya hummer the other day and I’m real excited about building it, but before I start, I figured I’d ask you guys a question. I really wanted to weather the crap out of this thing and I was wonderin if anyone out there knows how to simulate mud? Thanks for the help
Well I had pretty good luck by mixing testors putty and the shade of paint that I wanted. Then took a old brush and spattered it on. It worked pretty good for something I had laying around. I’m sure there are some other ways as well.
When all else fails … real mud works good too.
But I use pretty much the same method as Chris does.
The easiest method I have found for making thick mud is to mix a dark earth or sand or rust color paint( The color depends on where the scene takes place ie. red mud for the upper highlands of Vietnam as an example or dark grey brown mud of Germany \etc)that I mix with a lot of baking soda. Use more or less of the soda as you like. The more you use of course the thicker the mud will be. I find that it looks quite convincing.
thnx guys cant wait to try it
