Well Im hooked on small scale now but look how low I’ve stooped, I traded my buddie 400 rounds of Greek 8MM ammo for 20 kits. The problem is 14 of them are 1/72 scale aircraft (9 MPM,4Encore and 1 Smer) and one 1/48 MPM bf109T. To make this story more tragic there are 2 ship models. Ill never be able to show my face at the club again. I just gotta figure out what tracks to use on the Airfix Graf Spee T66 single pin for casual and late model Tiger for formal wear I just dont know, life used to be so simple. At least there is the 1/76 Matchbox Panzer 3L to cleanse my soul but those colors they molded it in (yech!).

Just out of curiosity (and ignorance too!) what is different about Greek 8mm vs. regular mauser 8mm if anything? [:D]

Its mauser ammo 7.92X57mm to be exact. A lot of countries bolt actions were based on Paul Mausers designs but 8mm is basically a German caliber that was adopted by other countries hence Greek 8mm Yugoslavian 8mm etc. Currently Importers are bringing in a lot of the German Mausers captured by the Russians that were refurbished and stored by them all these years. These had also been passed on to some of the Soviets sattelites like Romania who were producing the ammo as late as the 80’s and that is also being imported. Yugoslavia was producing what amounted to a K-98 on machinery placed there by germany for quite some after the war and I have one of the later versions with the stamped instead of milled parts. I have a C&R FFL 3 collecters License so I usually buy surplus ammo by the case to get better deals. My personal favorites right now are Mosin Nagants (russian) especially the Finnish versions, by the way the Finns didnt produce any recievers they only rebarrelled and refurbished captured ones. The Finns were like the Israelis as they didnt waste anything and the refurbished and spliced stocks on them are truly incredible when it comes to quality and workmanship. They are also very accurate.
I thought as much, thanks for the explanation! I have a former Romanian Brno Vz.24 that I picked up at a Big 5 Sporting Goods as a suprlus item. Has the crest ground off but enough still there to be able to make an ID. Took it out and fired it once, now it it’s mounted on the wall with a cartridge case and bayonet as a display item. [:D]
