Would someone please tell me what the difference is between Mr. Color Thinner and Mr. Color Leveling Thinner?
Hope you all are having a grand Christmas!

I haven’t used these, but my understanding is that both of these thinners are intended for use with Gunze’s “Mr Color” range of lacquer based paints. The difference bewteen the two is that the “Mr Color Levelling Thinner” contains a drying retarder which extends the drying time of the paint allowing it to level to reduce brush marks. If airbrushing, the levelling thinner may be advantageus in reducing “pebbling” (where tha paint droplets dry in mid-air before reaching the surface being painted, leaving a gritty, dusty finish).
Thanks Phil. That makes sense especially when I merge that in with a test I was reading the other day. Appreciated it very much.

Had the same question earlier this summer, what I found out that for airbrushing the MR Color line, use the self-level version. You’ll get strands of spidery webs shooting out if you use the other (though that one is fine for brush painting), and I also learned you can really thin the heck out of this stuff for very sheer coats. You’ll know you have enough of the thinner in the mix when there are no strands spewing forth. Mr. Color = best hobby paint ever, IMHO (besides Alclad 2).
