I’ve never used this paint before and now that I have some I’m stuck. I need to thin Mr Color 43 but don’t know what kind of paint it is (acryl, lacquer or what?) and what to thin it with. I found something about using Mr. thinner. I have some Mr. Color thinner. Is that the right thing or different? The only English on the label said not to drink it (I think - the type is microscopic and I can’t read it). Can anyone help? I’m slowly running out of Model Master enamels and have to learn how to adapt.
Here is a good link which I think answers your question
I use the Mr. Color leveling thinner and love it. I couldnt tell you the difference between the two, but I also have the Mr Color thinner which I use mainly to clean brushes and the airbrush and supposedly it helps when painting in colder weather like now during winter. Not sure how true that is. Im not skilled enough to see a difference so far.
Same here. I thin 50/50 with their leveling thinner and have been very happy airbrushing. My new favorite paint.
I believe Mr. Color Levelling thinner has a retardant added to it, so it will dry slower, giving it a chance to “level itself out”. I have used it with Mr. Color paints (lacqer) and it works well.
Gunze’s acrylic line is labelled Mr Hobby Aqueous or something like that, while Mr Color is their lacquer line. I think.
Thanks for the replies. I dercided to try mixing what I have on hand and it worked great. I also have some of the leveling thinner on order and am looking forweard to trying it.
Aqueous is an alcohol based acrylic similar to Tamiya’s acrylics.
