Wow! looks incredible! What scale is it, and what is the manufacturer? Again, great job!
Thanks. Not sure of the scale, but it’s a little bigger than the Fine Molds 1/72 Falcon. This is the old MPC (AMT/ERTL) kit that was the only game in town for decades. It’s been in my stash since the early '90’s.
Great job on your Falcon. I built that one when it was new back in '78 when the kit included lights. Mine did not turn out nearly as well.
I had no idea it originally came with lights. That would explain the useless clear plastic pieces.Kinda forced me to scratch-build the exhaust vent thingies.
FYI,it’s real easy to get a Falcon to look like this by using Tamiya ‘soot’ and ‘gunmetal’ from the weathering kits. That and a stiff brush.
Great job! The engine vents look really good.
Thanks. They were a PITA,but something had to be done.
Wow, Lando Carissian may have called her a hunk o’ junk but she looks pretty darn good to me. I’ve heard a lot about the old MPC kit but not much good, beautiful work you’ve done here!
I still haven’t seen ‘The Force Awakens’ but I love that the movie has brought all these cool SW models back to the forums.
Mine didn’t turn out that well either. Beautiful weathering!
I noticed that we employ the same cockpit detailing techniques! ![]()
Thanks guys. This kit definitely needs a bit of work.A bit of putty here and there and numerous greeblies to beef up the detail.
I wasn’t about to jerk around accurizing the cockpit which wouldn’t be very visible anyway.
TD, I like how yours came out. It goes to show these old MPC kits can still look good with a little work. Of course you can always go hog wild with the after market and lighting, but that can get expensive real quick, lol. I have the cutaway version that is waiting for me to get of my rear end and build it.

Fantastic work!!! This looks really good, and I like the detail on the engine!
Thanks guys.Glad you like it.It was worth the effort.
FYI,if you are building this kit and have any 1/72 tank parts left over, they are a perfect source for greeblies.
Also,I have the cut-away version in the stash as well.
Don’t feel bad - I still haven’t seen it either, and after hearing that it’s just a rehash of the original Star Wars I don’t think I want to. Back to the subject at hand: I like the paint colour overall, but I would’ve chopped the cockpit sleeve down about a third, and the side walls of the main fuselage down about the same. I would’ve also resized the radar dish as you can tell that these are all the same irrgularities that everyone who knows the Falcon can attest to are obvious.

All that hacking and slashing is hardly worth it with all the other options available these days.Sometimes I just want to get to the building and painting.
For the record,The Force Awakens totally sucked.Rebooted Episode IV with a bunch of cameos and easter eggs tossed in.MONSTER DISAPPOINTMENT!
Great work! One of my favorite vehicles of all time! [Y]
Thank you.
Outstandind build! The weathering is great, one of my favorite vehicles of all time. Well done
Sorry TD4438, cant see my posts for some reason, once again, great job!
WOW!! I haven’t talked to you for a long minute! It’s good to see you still on the forums Sterno. I’ve been only lurking here, and there, but not much else. I’m spreading myself too thin! Any way, after seeing another member of a different forum build his to look just like the five footer this wouldn’t be a lost cause if you wanted to go all out on this kit. It looks pretty damned good as it is!
