There have been several messages on the Huskie H-43 in a lively and informed discussion in the FSM Forum, and motorized choppers in general have been discussed in another string. I wonder though if anybody has tried to motorize Testor’s 1/32nd Huskie? This is what I’m thinking of doing because the large scale model might make motorizing easier perhaps than in smaller scale helis. Also there is no tail rotor to worry about, and thus eliminating worries about how to gear the main rotor and tail rotor so that they work in synch. I’m no engineer, only a librarian actually. But have a great deal of interest in how helis work and how to model them. I would think that a single motor, single shaft would be able to drive the model Huskie’s two rotors? I would guess that the equipement I need are a motor, battery, on/off switch, rotor shaft, and lead connections? When it’s finished I’d like to perch the heli on a suitable stand above a base depicting a jungal, to hopefully make an interesting diorama. I wonder if there are any appropriate transparent stands for 1/32nd scale aircraft?
The kit was originally motoerize back in the late 50’s or early 60’s so it shouldn’t be that difficult, who know you may even find one on E-bay
Hi, at one time the testors kit was a hawk kit and it was motorised but after some it was discontinued,i have one of these kits,now if you look at the testors kit you will see the gears and on the interior you can see cutouts in the floor were wiring and motor was to be installed,now if your a static modeler there are some nice after market sets, especially from cobra company. For those of you that like the thrill of bidding on that well known site you still get the hawk kit fully motorised, price? ah well that depends on how many bidders,i got mine pretty cheap,well hope thi info helps.
