Anybody interested in getting a Motorbike group build going?
My suggestion would be as follows:
1/12 scale, Tamiya or Aoshima, Roadbike or custom Bike.
If you got other suggestions as to limit on make, model or engine size lets hear it.
To be honest i would like a Gunze Sangyo High Tech kit build, but the kits are rather hard to get hold off and I think a bit to expensive for many pockets, as well as a challenge for people not used to that kind of kit.
I’d really be interested but I’m already involved in the Panther, the Concorde and the Sherman one… If you leave it for a stating date in Feb-March, I’ll be in.
I might mention too that I’ve NEVER built a motorbike before, so I’d appreciate a subject that’s not too hard… Tamiya’s and Revell’s motorbike kits are easily obtainable here…[:D]
I’d like to get involved with a bike build, in another month or so.
I am concerned about the lack of variety that might result in one single kit being required. You don’t think of a Katana chopper, or as old and beat up. Hmmm, just food for thought!
By the looks of it I am looking at a start-date of mid to end-of-february.
That is one of the reason why I did the inital suggestion of roadbike, granted partially for personal reasons too.
Roadbikes would cover anything from a Black Shadow through to a Hayabusa or a Blackbird, granted the fairings on the newer bikes will hide all the detail and hard work.
Aoshima makes some great Kits and they got a good selection of customised bikes too, plenty of spare parts, PE details included, etc.
I personally prefer the late 1970’s & early 1980’s Bikes and love to customise those both in scale and real-life.
BTW, Katana chooper sounds delicious to me.
One other reason why I like the roadbike theme, not many AM kits out there and if you want to customise you might need to chop some fenders, frames, etc yourself. [:D]
If anyone is interest I could post a few tips to add realism to some Bikes, like worn, sagging seat cushions, adding a windscreen to a Virago, etc.
For the guys that want to add customparts or realistic items there are a few generic AM parts out there (Spark plugs, better wiring, custom hoses, etc.)
So shall we got with a roadbike theme, would be interesting what people would decide to buil.
Yep, it is nice, got one sitting unbuild behind me too.
I noticed that quiet a few members here recently seemed to have finished kits of this Bike/Model, hence my suggestion for roadbikes as we also got a few Bike novices that seem to want to join in.
A group build sounds great to me.
How about something Italian? A Tamiya Duck 996 or a Protar MV Augusta (the new type) or an Italerie Ducati Monster.

Good question…and I’d love to join in. I’d be happy with either a road bike or race bike - no problems either way.
I presume the generally accepted model will be a 1/12 scale Tamiya?
I’ve got their Ducati MHR, 916, 888, '98 Repsol NSR500, Cup Noodle NSR250, Kenny Roberts YZR500, Yamaha YZR500R street bike, Yamaha FZR750 OW01, GSX1100 custom, and a Yamaha XV1000 Virago - all waiting to be built.
A little problem I have is that life gets in the way and I don’t build quite as quickly as I’d like…
Whattaya think?
