Hi all,
I just finished reading Black Aces High: The Story of a Modern Fighter Squadron at War by Robert Wilcox, and I highly recommend it.
The author follows VF-41, an F-14A Tomcat squadron, during the cruise where they fought in Kosovo in 1999.
While there’s a lot of technical information on the planes and weapons systems, the emphasis is on the squadron members. I was particularly impressed with the balanced approach the author took; he shows the men in the squadron as human beings, warts and all.
You can read more about the book here:

.
I’ve got two F-14s in the queue, both D models. One with markings for VF-31 and one with markings for VF-213. After reading this book, I may pick up an F-14A and see if I can get good deals for VF-41 during the cruise depicted in the book.
Regards,
