Mosquito in 1:72 - Hasegawa/Tamiya: Your thoughts ??

Evenin’ Guys

I’ve got a commission (Yippee !) to build a 1:72 Mozzie. Last one I built in this scale was the old Airfix one and I was 14.

I’m 41 now [;)]!

OK, so any of you built either/both the TamiGawa kits. What’s the general concensus. All opinions/comments/experiances welcome.

G’day,

The Tamiya Mossie has a bit more detail in the undercarage well than the Hasegawa, the Tamiya would be a far better kit in the scale you are looking into.

I agree with Rob. Although the Hasegawa kit is good, the Tamiya kit features better detail & fit. Tamiya kit is a scaled down version of their excellent 1/48 kit.

The Tamiya is better all-round. The Hasegawa u/c has a number of serious oversimplifications, the shape of the engine nacelles is incorrect for later-mark aircraft, the cockpit detail is oversimplified, and there’s a b****y great join line down the middle of the canopy! The only area where the Hasegawa kit scores over the Tamiya is that the decals are better, but you’d be better off just spending your client’s money on a set of aftermarket decals.
