There aren’t, at least not till Saturday. This will be the first Mosquito to grace the worlds skies since…1996 i believe?
It’s an ongoing restoration project - apparently more than 50% of the airframe had to be made from scratch.

The link you put is the one thats being restored almost completely. It was bits and pieces found in a paddock as sheep shelter (IIRC) The video ive posted is of the one being restored by Avspecs. If i recall, its owned by an american who bought the bits he had to Avspecs for final restoration process.
The one at mosquito restoration will be going to Tasmania.
The Avspecs one (that ive posted about) will be returning to Virginia.
I believe there’s a Canadian restoration in progress too. Looks like there could be several airworthy Mossies eventually.

I’m glad that one of the Mosquito projects has finally gotten to this stage - quite an undertaking. The Mossie is a very elegant aircraft, but to hear one make a full tilt, low level pass makes you realise that there is considerably more going on than elegance alone - it’s without doubt the nicest aircraft that I have ever heard in my life, the twin Merlin’s just sound fantastic.
Scorp - if you get the chance to see (or more importantly hear) her running or flying at any point, it would be most worth the effort!
That is so cool. I saw a Mossie fly a Lelystad aiport Airshow, I think it was in 1993 or 1994. One of the prettiest aircraft to ever grace the sky.
That’s fantastic. Two Merlins in full song. I am currently working on a 1/24 Airfix Mossie, and that is just the inspiration I need! I have see several flying displays involving the Mosquito over the years, the last being at a fly-past one of them did at the opening of the Banff Strike Wing Memorial in Scotland some years ago. The final pass that day was so low - under 50 feet -over the assembled dignatories, RAF band, former BSW members that the music stands, music, RAF uniform caps and several posh ladies hats were blown away! The top three feet of two small trees which were growing behind the memorial were buzz-sawed by the propellors! Hats, music, leaves and twigs everywhere! It was the most fantastic and evocative flying display I have ever witnessed.
I have recently met one of the pilots from Banff Strike Wing, and although in his 90’s, he still has memories of the unsung work they did in the fjords of Norway and chasing U boats in the North Sea. My model will depict his aircraft.

From what I hear there are 3 others being restored in NZ at the moment. Going to see her fly this weekend. Can’t wait. Should be a couple of other Merlin’s in the sky too and, hopefully the Corsair will make an appearance…

So apparently she flew a couple days ago. Test flight from ardmore aerodrome to auckland airport.

I know right. Today is the day of the first official display. Apparently Danish is going to be there. And my partners uncle will be there with a camera. Approximately 4 hours till take-off.

Trip report. Traffic was truly awful - mosquito was truly incredible! We abandoned the car and decided to walk the last 2km and, as we were doing so I heard what I thought was a spit or mustang but it was the mossie coming in really low over the road on a line to the aerodrome - the thing sounded stunning even though I imagine they were still being very gentle on the merlins to get them properly run in etc. To have her go over at that height sent the goosebumps going and really was a hell of a thing to see. My 4 year boy couldn’t stop going on about it. Up close the airframe was really sleek and looked pristine and everything looked mint. Other highlights of the show were the Anson, the vampire and strikemaster and a few others. I had to leave before the spit and mustang went up
