Monster caught, canopy retrieved, GIANT penny model finished

I put the finishing touches on the 2nd little George last night as another entry to the IJN/IJA GB. There was a strange smell in the room. The carpet monster had just passed gas from ingesting a little Christmas sheer…the canopy.[:(!]

No big penny for the shot. We needed an extra dinner plate last night so it is in the dishwasher.

A “what if” captured George. I printed the tail codes, the tail stripes are tiny decal strips and the NMF is MM buffing metalizer.

Kewel…I’ve never seen a George in captured clothing…very nice, Marc.

Very nice, thanks for sharing it! [tup] Noy quite the same w/o that giant penny, though… [V]

I was not happy about not being able to finish the last George. The last time i had a canopy problem it took 13 months to finish the model (Helldiver).

So I set a trap for the carpet monster and caught the little bugger. Turns out they don’t eat everything at this time of year. They store food in a small pouch like a kangaroo, I assume storing it for winter. Well, I got my canopy back and was able to finish the model. But it bit me and escaped. And it was really PO’d so I fear many future acts of reprisal.

But I got the model done NYAH, NYAH, NYAH[^]

And for Frank…

Ooh, I like it! That BMF turned out really nice. I’m glad to see that you found the canopy…it would have been a shame to not finish it. Well done. [:)] What’s next? SSGB?

What? Are you kidding? He’s got time to do at least three more builds before Christmas at the rate he builds. [;)]

Nice looking George Marc! [tup][tup] I’m going to have to try one of those 144 kits some day. As for the carpet monster getting away and getting even I would be afraid… VERY afraid!!!

LOL! [:D] Good point, surely there’s enough time for Marc to build something else…let’s see, how 'bout one of those billion piece Tamiya Swordfish? Or a Hasegawa ‘Museum quality’ Wright Flyer? Nah, then there’d still be too much time left at the end of the year.

All joking aside, Marc, you have done a fantastic job on all of these birds, and at a truly impressive rate, none the less! [tup] [bow]

It definately does look a lot better with the canopy installed. It would be rather breezy without it. Maybe you need to borrow Dirty Harry’s .44 magnum to use in dealing with the Carpet Monster. Just be careful that there are no models in the line of fire.

Whatta great job Marc ! NMF is daunting enuf - but trying it in miniscale is even more impressive.

I’ll have to try that trap idea - even though I work in my basement with no carpet - there has to be some other similar basement gremlin kinda thing. It once stole a decal for about 18 months and then brought it back without so much as a nibble taken out of it. (I guess they’re picky eaters)

Chris

The carpet monster never goes away. He is just visiting some other poor modeler an has missed a chance to dine on one of your high dollar discontinued model parts. I beleive he has been around since the beginning of time. Alot like the lockness monster. Alot of people beleive in him but no one actually has an actual picture of him, or at least if they do it has not been posted on this forum yet. Anyone holding out on me?

Soulcrusher

You must be referring to the Concrete Critter, who is a distant relative of the Carpet Monster, albeit much less agrressive.

19 days??? I was thinking of doing all the the planes that were NMF staitoned in England in Feb 1945.[:D]

Thanks for the comments guys

All of the planes stationed in England in 2/45? You prolly wouldn’t even break a sweat. How 'bout England 2/45 AND Korea? [:D]

Great work as always Marc! I am glad to see that someone is taking the appropriate measures in capturing the nasty little bugger. If he happens to cough up the rear canopy piece for a 1/48 Tamiya Spitfire, would you be so kind as to send it back? [swg]

Ha! I laughed my skinny white rear end off!! Good one Marc!

Real nice plane, too. I never woulda known it was nanoscale. Great job!

[#ditto] ROTFLMAO!!![(-D][(-D][(-D]

[(-D] Marc, you have just made my day with that one picture. Thank you!

Lordy, he’s done it again, [:)]
Wonderful job wing_nut, just as amazing as the first ‘George’.
Love that steely look to it, you sure you’re not doing some metal pouring out in the yard ?
If anyone says you got the count wrong on those miniscule tail stripes, whack em with that GIANT penny. BTW so how come no weathering on the penny then, slacker. [:D]
Always gives me the biggest smile when I see your little gems. Here’s a thought, if you pop them in a box together and shake, you think they might make a tiny tiny tiny ‘George’ ? [:-^]
Thanks for sharing,
All the best,
Mick.

It’s the Loch Ness monster… Nessie to her friends…

Mark, most excelent build!! Congrats on awsome build. I have to tell you I laughed my off with the snare trap. Outstanding. I t made my day!! Keep posting, their great.

your “penny” a/c never I mean NEVER cease to amaze me… I need to get my IJN GB going, hope that 1:48 scale looks half as good as your smaller scale! Love the panel shading…cheers!
