I like to use Apoxie Sculpt to fill the larger ones, it smooths with water before it dries. Then I usally use PPP or dissolved putty.
Now that hunting season, and the holiday festivities are over I can get back to my regularly scheduled programming, lol.
Round one of putty, sand, prime, repeat is done. Getting better, but still have a few more rounds in order.
Just caught up with this thread and its looking awesome! Way to whip this old molding into shape! Really like watching these non shake and bake kits get worked into nice rep’s of the real deal! Looking forward to the next up-date!
Thanks! I’ve got two more of these kits in the stash, one C-47 and one AC-47. I have the Trumpeter kit as well, but not sure which route I’m going with that one yet. I have to think of space restrictions, lol.

I honestly didn’t even look to see if they were still in the box. I’ll check and if they are there, they are yours. I couldn’t help but notice the airplane in your pic is Movie Memphis Belle. I help work on her in the summer time when she’s in Geneseo. She’s currently enjoying warmer weather in Florida.

My love lies with Whiskey 7, but MMB is pretty cool too. An interesting fact about her is she’s never been out of service. She’s been flying since 1945. I do plan on doing a Mini MMB this winter. I feel fortunate to be a part of the museum. I’ll be headed there tomorrow morning.
Me and my kiddo last summer with MMB at the airshow. We camped out for a few days to help out, even got to take a flight.
One of my favorite pics, tip of my boot and the shadow of the plane on the ground. That is something I can’t do in Whiskey 7, lol.

Hitting myself because I missed this build! Is this just your second build of this kit, or have you built more?
And do you have a kit picked out for the “Memphis Belle”?
This will be the 2nd Mini Whiskey 7. The first one I built I donated to the museum, and it resides in their gift shop.
I do have a kit, and a ton of PE for Mini MMB. It’s the Revell B-17F kit in 1/48. I will have to modify a few of the nose windows, but I think that is about it. I haven’t looked at the kit in depth yet.

Here’s the Revell 1/48 kit in MB markings that I did many years ago. My wife has since helped with the weathering by hitting it with Windex (yeah, it had gathered some dust) once when it was on an open shelf before I had an enclosed display case for it. Truth, it may have improved it!
I try. I love being at the museum. It’s honestly been my savior. I lost both my parents less than 2 years apart, Dad at 62, Mom at 61. Going to the museum gives me something to look forward to, and makes me feel like I’m a part of something. I’m helping keep the history alive.
Very nice! Mini W7, and Mini MMB will both be kept in an enclosed portion of my stand, once we get around to enclosing it. I’ve got a whole thing planned out!
Yep, pretty much the only game in town for such a project. I’ve got that one in my stash, to convert it to a B-17E for my collection of American aircraft used at Midway. For a kit that originated as a copy of Monogram’s B-17G (“Don’t let it happen again!” said the brass at Monogram to their opposite numbers at Revell), it’s not bad. The interior is really basic, but when it’s all closed up, there’s not too much to see, anyway.
I look forward to seeing your build of that one, too!

I’ve got all the PE for the interior and exterior for it, so that should spruce it up some. Like you said though you barely see any of it anyway. I’m alright with that though, there will be lots of progress pics along the way, so it will be seen, and I’ll know it’s there!
Thanks Striker! The troop seats were scratch built. Whiskey 7 has seats from an R4D, so the kit pan seats weren’t going to work. I’m hoping to get done with the putty, sand, prime routine soon and get painting.
Finally some progress to report. I haven’t been getting much time at the bench, but I managed to get up there for almost all of today.
I’m finally done with the putty, sand, prime, repeat routine. What a pain in the butt that was. I’m happy with how it looks now, so I’m ready for paint. I got most of the PE glued on, and some of the scratch made fiddly bits. Still a few more to do.
Most of the PE flaps are ready to go. Still have two more sections to build.
She should see Whiskey 7’s signature colors this week. Finally. Lol.
Seamwork looks perfect. I look forward to your Memphis Belle. I built the Revell kit years ago and it was quite nice for it’s age.

Primed the landing gear, and some other bits.
Got the underside of Mini W7 painted, can’t really tell since I masked everything off to lay down the white for the invasion stripes.
I’m hoping I can get some time later on today to start masking off for the black in the invasion stripes. It’s an ass backwards way of painting, but if you followed along with the first Mini Whiskey 7 you’ll know I used acrylic craft paint to match Whiskey’s unique colors. I prefer not to mask over that paint if I can avoid it. I will have to when it comes to painting the W7 on the fuse, and the R on the tail.
