Monogram P40B Tiger Shark 1:48 build, cockpit question

I am wanting to start this new build but having a hard time finding a picture of the actual cockpit so I can try and get some accuracy on this build. Not sure how authentic the model is as I cannot find anything to compare it to. Anyone have or know where I can see some cockpit picture of this plane? When I search it I can’t seem to find one that matches.

Not to be a wise guy or anything,but Google “P-40B cockpit photos” it returns many images of real cockpits and also images of modelers work.

Best to get a resin aftermaket cockpit set for that one, it really helps the kit. Here’s a link to when I built the Monogram kit:

Here is a link to one of those panoramic views of the Collings Foundation P-40B you can look all around on, it’s slow to load so be patient, but it is very good.

I tried that but I cannot seem to find one that matches what the kit has. Perhaps the kit is not authentic as I was hoping.

Edit: I also had Tiger Shark in my search which gave me a ton of photos to buy the model. When I tried it your way I did find much better results.

The P-40B, C, and D panels are entirely different from all later models.

You do have to remember that this kit is from 1964 originally.

Wow. So much great information. I wasn’t aware of the Virtual Museum! Very cool. Now I just need to figure out how to get a better resin kit for the cockpit.

There were no guns in the fuselage of the E and later models so the panel was extended upward. The whole fuselage was modified with a different wing location. All of these changes were due to the higher thrust line of the Allison V-1710E , which had a spur gears for the propeller speed reduction. The earlier Allisons had planetary gear reductions. This difference is also what caused the change in P-38 nacelles.

There’s a couple of books out by Squadron and another I can’t recall at the moment. They do an excellent job at revealing all the nooks and crannies of this beautiful bird. I’m a huge fan of the lines on the -B variant. I’d be happy to share some pictures I’ve got. I’ve also got a link I can drop here for you to view from a Revell/Monogram P-40B I did a few years back. It’s got all you’d want to know and try to do to build your best Warhawk.

Honestly, Your best bet is to go with some aftermarket resin. It goes a long ways. True Details does a very nice and honest depiction of the Warhawk’s front office. =]

Here you go rejd. Sorry it took me a while. I’ve been slower to get around on the forum. These are some of the pictures I referenced when doing my two hawks. There are two B&W pics that are of the actual aircraft and not refirbs and a couple of ASA sims to show how the colors would work out within the cockpit.

If you copy and paste the link I shared before, then you can see what the True Details cockpit looks like and how it fits in there. You could certainly scratch all this out yourself as it wasn’t as busy as some cockpits would get. The link is from a build that’s some years back. I tried my best to make it as comprehnsive a build list as I could at the time as the Revell/Monogram Warhawk had some real issues to work out apart from it’s excellent shape and dimensions.

The Mono P-40 B is very accurate except for the cockpit.The instrument panel is wrong for the B. Take Jeaton01’s advice and find yourself a resin set or start scratch building according to war time photos.

Legend use to make a set # LF4036 for the Mono “B”. It would be hard to find!
