Monogram P-51B (pics)

My Christmas Holiday project. The Monogram 1/48 P-51B with Superscale decals.

It had been a long time since I had built one of these kits. I added a Verlinden cockpit. I left the raised lines. Comments (good or bad) welcomed.

WOW! Looks great from where i sit. Looks like a nicely used Mustang. My only suggestion would be to paint canopy with the interior color 1st!!

Very nice clean build. Great looking Stang.

Regards, Rick

Looks really nice! Excellent job on the paint, especially the Normandy stripes. [tup]

That is awsome. I like seeing the different shadeing on the top. What did you use for your metal finish, also did you highlight the panels within the metal finish. If so, how did you do that? Really nice build.

Looks great! Mustangs With field applied camo over natural metal always look great. I think you have just inspired me to build my Hasegawa 1/32 P-51 D in field apllied O/D. I have had on my to do list for about six months now.

That is one beautiful Mustang.

Very well done. Everything about this build shows skill. Painting the inside framing of the canopy would have put this baby over the top, but, I know how tough that is to do.

Congratulations…

Steve

Great build of an oldie but a goody. The NMF and weathering are very well done.

Superb work!

Nicely done [tup]

Beautiful job!

Very nice job on a elderly kit.

Looks like you managed to deal with the awful fit of the windscreen to the fuselage very well. That old kit was a milestone when it was first released. You did her proud.

Thanks for the comments guys.

The metal finish is Floquil old silver. I really like using it for natural metal finishes. You can leave it bright or shade panels with dullcote and glosscoat. You can even polish it a little. The panel lines were shaded by adding Floquil grimy black to the silver.

The front canopy is a Squadron vac. I had to replace the kit canopy when it had an unfortunate incident with a wheel on my chair. Only the second time I had used one. I wish someone would post a lesson on how to handle these vac form canopies.
