That Benz is beautiful! It deserved to be built… not left in the box, never to be seen.
There are a couple of Mercedes 540-K variants out there by Monogram, but I really like the convertibles more so than the coupe (go figure the one I have is the coupe).
That color is definitely right for the period and has me considering it for at least one of my “rescues”.
Cadet, That old Johan kit looks great, I always liked em. Those are still around here and there and are not too expensive, glad you built that one and I am sure Granpa would be proud of it. Nice work sir.
Here’s Packard Boattail from the Monogram series. These are really nice kits and build up well. When I was just starting to build models these cars were more “recent” than a '64 Mustang would be to a 12 year old today.
Hi Everyone, I stumbled across your posts on this subject regarding the Museum Piece model kits, I am clearing my late Dads unused private model stock on ebay and have 3 unused kits…
Monogram The Classic MERCEDES 540K CABRIOLET 1:24 Museum Piece
Monogram The Classic ROLLS-ROYCE ROADSTER Museum Piece
Monogram The Classic PACKARD BOATTAIL SPEEDSTER Museum Piece
Beautiful cars, gentlemen! And Cadet Chuck, it’s not sacrilege to open an old kit and build it. That’s why it was produced, for someone to build and enjoy.
NOTE: There is no such thing as a 1964 or 1964 1/2 Mustang. The press created this myth due to the early debut of the 1965 Mustang at the NY auto show.
Your roadster and the coupe twin had their Bodies built by Sindelfingen in Austria .One of the finest coachbuilders at the time . Also , The other reason I liked all the cars like this , from All the companies , were those gorgeous wire wheels !
