Monogram Mig 29 Fulcrum

Hey all!

I recently came into possesion of a Monogram Fulcrum, 1/48 scale, thanks to my Dad.
What a champion!!

Now the Monogram instructions are pretty basic, but ass’y isn’t a problem, the paint scheme is.

All they printed for the colour was a gray outline for pattern, and no colour codes, or paint types used.

I was wondering if anyone has made a Fulcurm and painted it in either Gunze Sangyo or Tamiya acrylics, and if so, what were the numbers/colours used.

Thanks in advance.

Sean

Well you are in for a nightmare if you wish to use those paint brands. There are no exact matches. you will need to mix your own. Now if you were to use enamels, or as a guide to mix your own, model master makes those colors called, appropriatly, fulcrum gray and fulcrum gray green. Yuo may also wish to try valjo paints or Aeromaster paints as they are acrylic and may have those colors. (I have not seen them yet)

Howdy, Sean!

I built that kit about fifteen years ago, and don’t really remember what colors I used…it was all Testor’s Model Master, so I can’t help you with Tamiya or Gunze equivalents. The base color was Light Gray in the spray can, with the Medium Gray camo brush painted on. I have no idea how accurate those colors are, but it looks like a MiG-29 to me!
Here’s a pic:

Good luck with your build![:D]

if the Monogram kit was from the mid to late 80’s then the paint guide is for Humbrol paints, and in the early 90’s they started to go with the FS #'s but I don’t know if they used them on their Iron Curtian Series planes but I’ve built a couple of AV-8B’s within about 5 years and the paint refferences went from Humbrol to Basic FS# with no major paint corp’s backing

Thanks for the info guys!

JHulk, nice pic![:)]

Looks like greys are the way to go, might have to search the net and find some decent colour pics to match my paint with.

You have to admit, it’s a sexy looking plane!
