Monogram’s 1/48 EA-6B Prowler. I am aware of all the flaws in the kit. I did what could short of buying the correction set. I added the antennas, moved the inboard wing fences to their proper location. This is the first kit that I tried out Ammo of Mig paints using their us navy modern set. I must say I like them alot. I am hooked on the black basing tecnique, which is what I used here. Maybe I will try the kinetic kit next [:D]
Very cool!
Thanks mississippivol
That is one exceptional build. You did a fantastic job on this kit!
Toshi
Thanks Toshi !
That looks great. Love your weathering job.[Y]
Mike
Thanks Mike
B1,
This Prowler turn out great! How did you do the blackbasing? Spray all black then did you use the white/light grey dots/circles? Or, just all black?
Thanks for sharing, it does look very well done!
Thanks hogfanfs, I prime in black then do the base color dots along with some light gray dots. Then once the marble effect is done I then cover the model with very thin coats of the primary color to help blend everything together.
If you do a Google or YouTube search for doogsmodels he explains the process very well. That’s where I got It from.[Y]
Thanks, B1!
I’ve seen the technique explained on doogsmodels website. I was curious to see how you performed it. I’m close to finishing a plane to the point I can try the technique; just trying to digest as much information from those who have used blackbasing.
Thanks again for your response. And again, your prowler is very well done!
B One
Such a good job you made of it, excellent work. The finish looks like the paint system worked well for you, I’ll check with the online dealers to see if I can locate some to try.
Thanks for the post and photos.
Patrick
Thanks Patrick, there are actually 3 gray tones on the model, and just like the real deal you have to get up close to it to actually see them.
NOICE!!!
Beautiful build, B_one!
Very authentic looking.
Thanks for the kind words
yes a very nice finish
I concur with all the above.Nice use of the technique.
Seriously, that is one really nice bird. Did you tint the canopy? Or is it just the light reflecting that makes it look gold?
BK
Thanks all, as far as the canopy goes I tinted it with a light coat of alclad gold and copper
