Right now it’s about the best choice that there is. It features raised panel lines which are actually very close to correct. The “G” model has a fairly detailed interior. The “F” model does not have much inside beyond the cockpit.
I just got this model and a, enjoying it very much. The panel lines are raised, but they look fine. The interior detailing is more than adequate for what you will see on the finished model. There are several companies that do make photo etched and resin detail sets for it if you want to add extra detailing. As for size, I don’t have the exact kit measurements on me but it is a decent size. If you get one I think you’ll like it.
The Pro Modeler B-17 comes with some P.E. stuff (buckles, ammo, instrument panel, gunsights, engine harnesses, etc.) It also includes a couple of extra crew figures for the interior. If you want to add aftermarket stuff, there’s a Verlinden resin & P.E., Eduard P.E. (interior & exterior), and Squadron vac clear parts (but not turrets). Great kit, overall, if you have the workbench & display space.
Plus the Aries M2 browning guns are great to replace the waist guns.
and if you are really going to go nuts on it I have some great pictures of the insides of the turrets I can send you.
Swanny - I’ve got the Pro Modeler kit in my “to do” pile. Could you e-mail me some pics ? Do you have any of the compartment inside the forward crew entry hatch ? I can’t find any pics of that area, & I want to oped up that hatch.
