Been working on this for a month or so for an ARC group build. Only other thing I did away from OOB was to use chrome plated large paper clips for the guns plus I used some PE parts from the deluxe kit, seat belts and anti-sway mounts for the bomb racks. I also wired the motor, you just can’t see it. I went ahead and used the kit decals since I couldn;t find some RAF markings. So we have P-49D-10RE of Maj. Hershel “Herkey” Green, 317th Squadron, 325th Fighter Group. Now to finish my Buffalo.
Thanks for looking,
Not too bad. I did have to sand on top of the forward fuselage but the rest (especially the belly) actually went together pretty good.
Thanks for the comments everyone. I’ve been wanting to do a checkered tail and I’m happy with the way this one came out, despite a few minor problems with the decals. Now back to Secret Santa GB 4.
Vrey nice! I like your finish, and the details you added.
Did you replace the kit canopy with a vacuform?
This is a great little kit, and I’d recommend it to anyone, don’t let its age and origins frighten you. I have one on the bench now, 90% finished, as lt. Frank Klibbe’s “Little Chief”. I had no fit issues with the kit, either. Even right out of the box, you can make a nice P-47 with this.
I have someTamiya kit Little Chief decals, may do that one after I do the doublebolt I have planned.
I wish. Decals. I softened them with microsol, let them set and dry, trimmed off the edges then did touch-up with paint. Right side is a little off but not noticeable unless your looking right at it.
