Monogram 1/48 C-47 Skytrain WIP *Finished*

I got this kit from a friend of mine about a month ago and got some motivation to build it after going the Minnesotat History Center and doing the C-47 D-Day simulator. I am going to build this OOB because the kit is pretty nice. I put a drop of Future on all the instruments. Its unfortunate that most of the interior will not be seen after going through all that work to paint eveything.

More pics soon (If I get anything else done)

Thanks for looking

It’s a pity alright that your interior detailing won’t be seen. That’s a pretty good job you did on the interior by the way. I like the way you did the wooden seats and the individual seatbelts. Show us some more of the build.

Looking great! Nice job simulating wood. Care to share your technique?

Thanks for the kind comments guys.

lawdog114 - What I do is brush a tan color first making sure that there are brush strokes. When that is dry I do the same thing with a darker brown.

I’ll post another update tomorrow

Wow nice job man! I built the Monogram DC3 kit and after spending a week detailing the interior I put the fuselage together and went “hmm” can see anything.

Looks like you are

Sorry, for the incomplete post. I am using the mobile site and it does not have an edit function. What I was trying to say: looks like you are of to a good start.

Looking good! Inspiring me to pull mine out!

Really nice work on the wood and the belts.!!!

If you haven’t sealed it up yet… I usually cut open the door between the cockpit and the cabin. It lets just a little more light through if you want to look inside.

Out Standing!

Sorry I didn’t post an update yesterday I was busy with work. I got some more done on it though. I got the wings glued together. Suprisingly they fit together pretty well. I got the windows glued in using a special kind of super glue that does not fog clear plastic and it really works!

The Figures still need some work. I am going to reposition the one figures arms and I might add some netting to the helmets. I still need to find a few 1/48 scale weapons for a few guys.

Thanks for looking, more soon!

Another small update. I cut the arms of the on figure and repositioned them and gave him new hands from a different figure. I got the interior glued into the fuselage and I will be ready to close her up soon.

Looking good!

Looks great! The detail work on those paratroopers is amazing…

And are you still working on it? Hmmmmmmmmm?

No i’m not working on it currently

If the plane is going to be finished in the same spectacular fashion as the paratrooper, I really can’t wait to see it!

Whatever it is you’re doing, stop it and get back on the C-47.

Eric

I like this very much, please don’t abandon it

These two are out-standing! I personally love to “Frankenstein” figures too… I’ve only got two of the paratrooper figgie left in my figure scrap-box, but I’m gonna cast a few more… ( BTW… Got any extra paratroopers you wanna get rid of?[;)]

Oh yeah… Try pantyhose for netting… I simply cover the figure’s helmet in liquid cement, then pull the pantyhose down tight… It’ll spread itself out into a “net” shape, then it’ll glue itself to the helmet… Brush on a little more liquid cement after the fact to ensure a tight bond to the helmet, then after it’s set, trim with X-Acto knife…

The goggles and first-aid kits need to be shaved-off first though… You’ll alos have to add the chinstrap from the helmet liner…
