Working on a M2A2 ODS Bradley which will wear IF desert camoflague. My question. Should the pioneer tools, track breaker bar, etc. be painted the vehicle color or should they be painted in traditional colors such as wood handles, steel shovel blades and so on?
Thanks for help on this.
Mike
Most often the tools are black with natural wood colored wooden parts. The tools are removed while the vehicle is painted, but sometimes crews will spray paint the tools black or OD to keep them looking nice. Sometimes when a new vehicle is issued, the tools will come spray painted CARC green.
To expand on Rob’s answer, the crew is responsible for keeping the tools clean and serviceable. When issued new, they will look like tools from your local harware store. As soon as they are used in the field and return to garrison, the crews wil clean them and paint them. In solid color, or combos of black and OD (or whatever color is onhand) spraypaint (wood one color, metal the other).
Thanks for your help. I now have options.
