I was wondering if models scratch built in solid wood would be appropriate here? I do understand that most of the awesome models featured here are in plastic and I build in plastic as well as F/F models. I have a 1/32 scale P-51D I carved from bass wood.
Would love to see em!
Modeling is modeling, doesn’t have to be plastic. We’ve seen paper models, wooden, and even a cocktail napkin HO-229!!!
There is a scratchbuilding forum, so that might be more appropriate than this one. There is not a deluge of traffic in that forum, but we do have some interesting threads. Other scratchbuilders may more likely congregate there than here.
yes appropriate. I agree with both above posters.
I think your question refers to somewhere within the FSM Forum rather than specifically the General Modeling Discussion Forum ?
Just post the pics in the appropriate subject area. A hand carved P-51 would probably go over very well in the aircraft forum.
In our local IPMS chapter there is a guy who builds paper model kits and does some incredible work. As impressive for their detail and delicate work (especially on some ships) as any other medium I have seen done.
As said by others, solid models are ofcourse welcom. There is at least one other modeller on this forum who build that way, his forum nickname is Solid…
Okay, thanks guys. I’ll post 'em over at the scratch builders forum. In retrospect that was the most obvious place. Thanks again.
