Models as 'comfort food'?

At 2330 local the other night, I was waiting for a fire mission when I began to think about the ‘good feeling’ I had from a cookie I was eating (our Battery Commander has a wife who bakes like a pro!). Anyhoo, I began to consider that I have that same ‘happy’ and ‘comfortable’ feeling when I get a model kit. Could there be a link between models and comfort food??

Ron[:)]

Do you eat your model kits? [;)]

[#ditto][(-D][(-D][(-D]No wonder Im overweight with all the kits I have built.

I like my models well done.

Okay guys… first off, don’t eat the kits, they’re PLASTIC and don’t digest well. Second. I was speaking metaphorically, not literally. Jeese!!! OY! Holy Cow!

LOL. and I thought I was tired from being in the field.

Ron

Hi ya Poniatowski

I have often thought that very same thing … the two feelings are very close … [^]

Food and modelling … two of my favourite subjects.

Y’know, going in won’t be so bad, but imagine when those pointy bits of sprue make their way out again…

I skipped the future, lightly toasted my Tiger I and covered it with Lingonberries and sour cream. Delicious. Better than I could have hoped.

I like my models parts to be crispy, like my cookies[:)].

Look out
here come the men in white coats[dinner]

[:0][:0][:0][:0]Nooooooo! Anything but a tiger 1!!![:p]

Are kits microwave oven friendly, too? He-he-he.

You guys are hilarious! As for an honest answer to this thread…yes in a way. It’s more comparable to Christmas morning, when you rip apart the celophane and take off the lid to see what’s inside. A kind of collective sigh comes over you as you admire the nicely packaged sprues and think of it as many smaller presents inside a larger present. A certain gratification fills your inner body as you read and then reread the directions again and again. Yah, sort of comparable. Man I need a vacation!

I know the feeling Ron and Damn am I hungry!!!

LOL, Robert’s comfort feeling comes from modeling while eating, and eating while modeling [;)]

The kits are lower in cholesterol, though a bit hard to digest. [:p]

And you can make steched sprue tooth pics for after [:D]

Ok, sorry Ron, yes I understand what you’re saying and agree completely. I get that warm fuzzy feeling when I get a new kit and drool over it a bit, and hope I get to build it in my lifetime. I admit it, I’m addicted to buying. I’m just a slow builder.

Could there be a link between models and comfort food? I don’t know, I’ve never seen my models eat very much. The rug eats a lot of model parts, but I don’t know if it derives any comfort from it, I know I certainly don’t! The cat seems to like the crunchy little parts, so I guess you could say he does. I like eating comfort food while building models, so it would be hard for me to distinguish it as a separate feeling! Sorry, guess I’m not much help.

Yea Eric and if you think that warm fuzzy feelnig of looking ion the box is great , it’s nothing like the one of looking at a finished kit [:D][;)]

You’ve all cracked me up! Anyhoo, you can see there’s not much to do while waiting for fire missions. I sure thought up a lot of cool projects while I was sittin’ though!

(I did chew on an Airfix Sherman when I was a little kid once… is that bad?)

Ron

There’s is not a time that I am more calm and ‘disconnected’ from the world then when I am at my modelling desk
