News to me! How long have they been doing this?

Not sure it’s such a bad idea – sure, you didn’t build it, but you didn’t build the length of rubber treads that come with most kits either …

No objections from me! I heard these things are time consuming anyway

i’d buy them pre-assembled… that would give me time to join more group builds.

I guess I’d have to weigh the price tag of $45 plus shipping versus either the kit tracks, or Fruils, or Modelkasten tracks un-assembled? I’m not sure right now, but I’m not doing a Tiger kit either!

Glenn

I don’t think $45 is a whole lot more then the unassembled MK treads.

I think the MK stuff is beautiful, I’ve just never liked it because it doesn’t stay together, in my experience. Maybe these do if factory made.

$45 for assembled MKs is a 50% increase…the unassembled variety are $30 generally. I guess it’s all about time vs. money and what you are willing to pay. A $45 prive tag would definitely put them out of reach for me, but that’s just my own philosophy when it comes to the overall cost of the build. [:D]

Either way, way more than I’d care to pay. I’ll stick with indies.

I’m the same way tigerman…I’d only recommend MKs as potential replacements for rubberband type tracks where you need a realistic sag and can’t get regular indys. They are a “cadillac” type of AM item IMHO…I’d go bankrupt very quickly if I used them on every build. [:D]

It certainly makes one think twice about building the kit indys when you look at what their getting for AM tracks these days. They shore are pruddy though! Semper Fi, mike

[:D] i think that is a great idea,a bit pricey ,but for me it be worth every cent[:D]

If I was building a kit for the express purpose of doing really well in a contest and I was going all out, then, that may motivate me to spend the $ on these Modelkasten pre-assembled tracks. Otherwise I’d most likely look at other alternatives.

Glenn

Sure, they’re a bit expensive…but isn’t the single biggest gripe we always hear about armor modelling is the sheer and utter hatred of assembling individual link tracks?
If you’re already going to invest in aftermarket tracks and you hate assembling those links, I think it’s a great deal, considering the labor that goes into it.
I’ll certainly consider it when I decide to use aftermarket tracks in a build!

I will not pay $15 more for assembled tracks, they are time consuming yes, but so is everything else in this hobby and they are dead easy to assemble.
And the look good.

I wonder if Fruilmodel will follow suit? That would be cool, preassembled all metal tracks-WOW

Steve

now that would be cool!![8D]

MAybe we should start our own cottage industry putting these together and then selling them on Ebay
