Modeling the German Sdkfz251/1

Hi everyone!

I am modeling the German Sdkfz251/1. I have painted the larger parts with black primer and now I am painting those same parts with Dark Yellow.

Before going any further, I need to know what color should I paint the seats in this vehicule? I have seen nothing in the instructions and my goal is to create the most realistic vehicule I can.

The seats on the Ausf C were leather. I generaly paint mine black and use leather colours for highlights.

In your second picture there is a round tank with 2 legs, in the middle at the top of the tissue. leave that out, it was only fitted to the Ambulance version.

Ok you mean the water tank?

Thanks for the info about the color of the seats.

Yep, the water tank. Afraid this is not a very accurate kit of the 251. I believe the model was based on one at Bovington tank museum that had a lotof the inside missing, hence it is missing the backrests come stowage boxes. But its a good model to practice painting and weathering on.

Your welcome, hope you will post more pics as you progress.

I will. And apart from a few model railroad buildings, this will be the first scale model I build, paint and weather.

The fact you have started with a 251 shows you have good taste [:D]

Yeap, that was one of the first five or so 1/35th kits I ever built. So you’re starting out on the right foot! The older Tamiya stuff are great beginner kits, good to learn the details without getting swamped with too much.

I don’t mean to be rude and to hijack someone else’s thread but just wanted to thank Bish for this. I am just starting and new to hobby and working on the same model. So I will cut out the tank then.

Cheers

Your welcome, look forward to seeing it.

UhOh!

I guess I better get mine done. Slight difference though. A very Old Bandai sdkfz251/1 from Bandai’s 1/48 scale line.

Last one of those I bought was to swap in the rear end of a “Rommel’s Rod” model.
