Modelcrazy's 2018 build review

The last fun thing of the year, a build review. This is where I get to show off all my stuff…again! Yea me! [:D]

I had a very exciting year from the road to death, to double lung trasplant to now getting better by the day. My transplant was 9 months ago and I HAVE NEVER FELT BETTER!

Anyway, back to the kits.

My first of the year, the Hobby Boss 1/72 Merkava IV

2 the Trumpeter 1/35 PT 76

Next is the 1/72 Hesagawa Fw-190D

This one I finished just before the operation. It won 3rd at EagleGuest, 2nd at Scalefest and 1st at the Texas State Fair. The 1/700 Hasegawa Hyperscale JMSDF Kirishima.

Next is the 1/700 Tamiya Scharnhorst. I started this before the operation and completed it a few months after. It won 3rd at EagleQuest and 1st at SuperCon

Next was the 1/72 Academy Fw-190A, nothing special here. I did have decal issues though.

The next one was the 1/25 Revell Ford Duce. I tried my hand at some modifications.

My next one was a fun one. 1/35 Hobby Boss Fieseler Storch. It was a get well gift from someone on the forum here. This one won 2nd at ScaleCon.

The next one is Meh, IMO. It was a shelf of doom that someone at out club just gave to me so I decided to complete the half built kit. The tracks were in pieces and the decals were completly missing so I had to improvize, adapt and overcome. It’s the 1/76 Matchbox Comet

Next was a fun build…until I got to the greenhouse masking…Japanse [8-)] I also lost the gearbox from BOTH the engines and had to cannibalize another Japanese bomber for the parts. It was a nice kit with a pretty fair fit. The 1/72 Hasegawa G3M3 Neal

The next one was the Moebius 1/25 Bat Pod. This was a supper fun but quick kit.

Another quick build was the 1/72 Trumpeter Challanger II.

Finally, my last completion of the year. The 1/200 AMT Saturn V from the Man In Space Collection. I’ve alwayse loved the ole Saturn V.

Not my usual number but hey, I had circumstances.

Wow what a year. Happy your transplant went well and very happy to have you here on the forum with all those great builds!

A great collection there Steve, all really nice builds but those ships are really top notch.

And heres to your continued improvment and i iknow we are all glad that you are still with us.

really nice work , modelcrazy . love your dio’s . didn’t know you were ailing , but pleased to see you are on the mend , can’t wait to see more of your build’s .

most impressive review and very well done

Steve, those are some seriously impressive builds. [:D[

Glad you’re having a great recovery and are enjoying much improved health. You’ve also had a terrific modelling year - I always enjoy seeing your WIP’s and finished work. Your water effects are amazing!

Happy New Year!

Mike

Steve: Great job there on your excellent quality of your builds plus the variety and volume esp considering your health issues. Best of luck with your continued improvement and another productive modeling year in 2019!

Steve,

You have had quite a year, most overall is that you now have your health. I look forward to continue to build with you and see more of your great work in 2019.

Happy New Year[t$t] my friend.

Scott

Steve, after reading your thread title and before reading your intro, I was thinking “whatever Steve built this year, I’m just glad he’s here to share whatever he did after the year he had”. And I truly am glad.

That is some very nice work, you’ve been a busy beaver. That’s a lot of models and you didn’t sacrifice quality for quantity either. [Y]

It’s been quite the year! Excellent builds but the transplant is the most impressive!

Looks like you had a great modeling year Steve! Love the water dio bases!

Alot of great builds I really love how you do your water. Have you done a tutorial on it?

Wow, Steve. Amazing work so many. I am lucky to finish 1 to 2.

Great to hear that the transplant plant is still going well.

Steve,

Outstanding job on all of these builds, but, I really like your Scharnhorst! I’m so very glad you are doing well now, and we get to see more of your fantasic builds in the future!

Those are some really awesome builds, Steve! You forgot to mention the one that showed up in the FSM readers gallery. That’s some kind of hat trick. Transplant, contest winners, and reader’s gallery.

The Saturn V was my favorite kit as a kid.

Great work. Looking forward to what you and the New Year bring us.

After my busy day yesterday packing up and returning to Dallas I wanted to stop and give everybody thanks for responding before going to bed.

HAPPY NEW YEAR everybody.

Keavdog, thank you, I’m glad to still be here too. I plan on living another 30 years and maybe clear out my stash. Yeah right.

Bish, thanks mate. You have always been a good friend to me since my very first post years ago.

Steve5, thank you. I’m getting better with my dios, still a long way to go.

Crown, thank you. You put out some very nice stuff as well

Gregbale, thank you, no seriously, thank you [;)]

Mike, thank you. I’m always amazed how many people watch my builds. My water is my signature.

Gamera, Thank you sir. You are always supportive of me, even when I know I produce the occasional POC

Scott my friend, I trully appreciate it. And again, my condolances for the loss of your fur baby. May your 2019 be filled with happiness. [t$t]

Greg, Thank you sir, I appreciate your concern over me this past year. I’m going to be around for a while. The world can’t get rid of me that easely.

Chad, thank you, I enjoy the times we get together. My transformation has probably impacted you the most of all the members. You saw me at my worst and watched me as I have recovered this past year. May your 2019 be filled with fun and success my brother.

G, thank you too. Your interests bring new ideas to my head.

Rambo, thank you. I have only done tuts during my WIP. I tried to do one for YouTube but I couldn’t get my phone to video in the proper orientation to work correctly. I plan on buying a new camera sometime in the next few months and try again.

Bakster, and thank you. I’m surprized I finished as many as I did.

Hogfanfs, thank you. The Scharn was probably my hardest. I was shaking pretty badly because of the anti-rejection meds after the operation, so adding the PE was a challange that I was determined to overcome. It’s 3rd and 1st place wins were a justification for my struggle. I don’t shake very much anymore. I have plenty of builds in line for 2019.

Daddyman, and thank you. It was a very busy year in more ways than one. I also got a job at Raytheon and now work 50 hours a week. I’m not bored, that’s for sure.

I forgot about one LOL. It’s the tiniest one of all of them. The 1/72 Dragon Ha Go. It had one piece of PE for the muffler screen.

For someone who dosen’t typically build armor…1/3 of my builds are armor [:^)]

Steve, you must be up late or very very early. Happy New Year mate, and its been a pleasure having you on board, and as 2018 has shown, the modelling gods ain’t letting you leave us just yet.

It’s late mate, I’m just about to hit the rack. My plane came in a little before midnight.

Happy new year my friend. [t$t]

In addition to all the great builds, Steve participates in and runs some great Group Builds! My hats off to you sir! Hope you have a great New Year!

Gary
