Model search

Does anyone know if there is a Lockheed Electra kit and where I might find it?

I don’t know very much about Electras, but I did a search on Greatmodels.com and they have a couple kits listed on the last page of the search. I also saw a couple on Squadron.com. So you might want to start looking on those two sites.

What scale are you looking for 1/144 or 1/72 or 1/48? Are you looking for the two engine Model 10 or 12 Electras (circa WWII) or the four engine L-188 Electra (used commercially by the airlines circa 60s)?

Minicraft makes the four engine L-188 Electra in 1/144.

Special Hobby makes a 1/72 version of the two engine Model 12 Electra.

…and Williams Brothers made the closest thing to a 1/48 version with a 1/53 scale version of the Model 10 Electra. This last kit is getting rare since Williams Brothers went out of business.

Search the major online retailers like Squadron, Roll Models, GreatModels, Hannants, Hobbylinc, CRM Hobbies, Internet Hobbies, etc. and maybe even eBay… you’re bound to find what you’re looking for.

I have both the Special Hobby and Williams Bros. kits, and both are reasonably nice kits, easily found on EvilBay. They usually sell for $10-$15.

If you are after a 1/72 L-188 (4 engined) Electra then there is a conversion for the Hasegawa P-3 kit available from the Victorian Hobby Centre in Melbourne, Australia. Their Email is vichobby@bigpond.com

Williams Brothers was bought by a company in Texas. Check the web site to see if Lockheed is still available. The new owners do sell direct. It’s still listed on the web under Williams Brothers

I would if I knew the name of the company in Texas or their website. All I can find is retailers carrying Williams Bros. products.

Daniel Brett bought the company. He got all the molds, inventory and licenses. He has a lot of inventory and will be reissuing kits as needed. Some may have new artwork. I have done business with him. He’s a good person to deal with. It’s a one man operation so he tends to be busy. I was pleased when he asked me to send photos of the model when complete it. No other manufacturer has ever asked me to do that. The web site is www.williamsbrothersmodelproducts.com

A follow up. The Electra by Williams Brothers is the two engine small transport. Many years ago Revell made the four-engine airliner. It was kit H-255 in 1/115th scale. It has American Airlines markings. According to KCC it goes for $150 and up if you can fine one. There were also LA Dodgers and Varig versions/ They go for $300 and up. Hope this helps you in your search.

This is a silly thread. Nobody knows if the guy wants an Amelia Earhart-vintage Electra or the turboprop airliner. Why are we all flailing for him? Let him answer the original question–dude, what are you looking for?–and stop wasting time.
