Hey everyone,
I am just about to make the jump to acyrlics, are the model master acylics ready to spray from the bottle or should they be thinned before use. I am using a gray enamel as a primer so hopefully the paint will stick a little better.
thanks
Barry
I thin mine with denatured alcohol until the paint is the consistency of milk. Usually about a 1:1 mixture.
I have found it depends on the color you are using. The various grays I have used have been ready to use. Some of the other colors I had to thin more than others to get them spraying evenly. They claim they ready to use on an airbrush, but you have to look at each one individually. The color is very consistent from bottle to bottle with how much it needs to be thinned in my experience.

Essentially the same as the previous gentlemen have stated: it pretty much depends on your airbrush as to the ratio you choose to thin. Acrylics dry a little quicker than enamels, so with the tip of your airbrush periodically when spraying to prevent “dry tip”.
Another alternative to use for thinning is either 70% or 91% isoproyl alcohol. The 70% is SLIGHTLY slower in drying time, but this helps slow down the “dry tip”.
