Hello All,
I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on how to hold my airplane while airbrush painting it? I have seen some photos in the FSM magazine that shows some type of wooden stand that is used. Can anyone tell me where to buy this and/or how to build it? I have recently started modelling after being an airbrush artist for some time. I really enjoy this hobby, it is such an art! Thank you for your time.

I use some old Legos-put some Silly Putty in the wheel wells, a couple of smaller Legos to raise it a bit. You will need to change the configuration if you want to lay it flat upside down, but the Legos make a good base for me for painting, weathering & applying decals.
An old coathanger works pretty good. I use to mount a coat hanger on a old record player and spin it as I painted.
Man, I’ve seen that Lego trick a few times now. I really need to pick up a box because that is brilliant. Way better than cutting some scrap wood up and gluing it to plywood to make a jig.
I use leggos to build cradles as well. very flexible.
I have a better shot of seeing Moses than sneaking Legos from my son. I use little plastic cups, that I can move around with ease as a method of holding up the model.
I keep a supply of dowels around in various sizes. Usually at the point where I am airbrushing there are some holes that I can stick dowels in. Prop mounting hole for prop planes, maybe tailpipe for jets. I drilled a couple of holes in my workbench to stick a dowel in after painting so it holds model up. I also keep a wire v-shaped piece on my bench that sticks into LG strut holes (I always put LG on after painting.
