Model Guns

i am wondering if there are any models of guns like a 1/2 scale AK47 or some thing like that. i thought it would be cool to have a 1/2 or 3/4 scale model of like an M4/M203 on my wall. or would i have to scratce build one??

check out collector’s armoury, they carry relicas, full size and i belive half scale

i mean like a model that i could put together. some thing that u glue and paint and stuff like that, not an expensive replica. a model that i could say that I built.

Can I suggest a less expensive alternative? The image below is of two 1:1 scale water pistols from a .98¢ store. I painted these just like I would a model kit, then gave them to friends for Bday presents. (the Lugar actually has brown wooden grips on the real one). I’ve seen various infantry rifle toys from 1:1 scale to quarter scale as well as pure sci-fi ray guns in all scales for a fraction of the price of scale model kits. Up close some of the details get a little ‘chunky’ but only a model hobby head would notice anyway. [;)]

naw i want a kit to build. i dont go out and get toy tanks and paint them. i want to be able to build a gun model not just paint it

Hey Garth, There have been many 1/1 scale gun kits released in the past. I don’t think anyone is planning to release any in the future thanks to the anti gun crowd. It’s a pity to because the Revell kits of the Peacemaker and Derringer would bring back fond memories if I could build them again. I would suggest that you set up a search on your ebay account to let you know when these old kits come up on auction. There must have been 6-7 companies that had a nice 1/1 gun selection. Maybe the PC thugs will crawl back under their rock or blow away and those mold will get dusted off and put back in service.

By the way Ako, those are beautifully done! You say they are cheap plastic toys? I’d swear they were real from the picture. I’m a shooter, fan, and collector of the 1911. I’d love to make a presentation like the one in your picture to hang in my office at work.[;)]

commies with thier gun control. were will it get us??

errr… i dont usualy use ebay. how would i search for these kits you speak of??
sorry

Thanks, Woody. Yup 99¢(plus sales tax) a piece. If you look closely, you can see the water pistol type triggers, which I left primer black so it would not be noticed. It looks as though the toy company used real ones for tooling masters, because they are very accurate actually. They also had revolvers. They were all originally bright orange or pink with blue tiger stripes[V] so they will sell legally in Cali.

Garth, Sorry about the slightly off topic side track there.

Go to ebay and register, the account is free. After you get registered, click on “search” at the top of the page. This works like any search engine but is huge. I found a Pyro built up collection on this search "Home > All Categories > Toys & Hobbies > Models, Kits > Search Results for ‘pistols guns’ ". After you do your search, click on the “save this search” option that will be toward the top of the page(s) your search yeilded. After you have saved the search you can manage it by clicking on “My ebay” at the top of the page. Your search results will be sent to you daily via email. [;)]

hey thanks that was alot of help

Garth,

At one time there was a Japanese company that made 1:1 scale models of various weapons (rifles, pistols, and grenades), I think the name was Marushin, but I could not find the box to verify this. Also, Verlinden used to make a series of 1:4 scale weapons such as the M-16, AK-47, and a set that included both a revolver and repeating rifle form the old West. Good luck in your search.

yea i found those 1:4 scale guns on the verlinden site. might get a couple. thanks you guys

Please keep political discussion off the message board. Thanks.

L S did a bunch in 1/1 scale.

I seem to recall Verlinden (VLS?) has (or had) a series of 1/4 scale resin modern battle rifle kits. can’t seem to find them on line though.

Williams Brothers makes a series of 1/4 scale WWI machine guns:

I built a S&W .44 Magnum replica from a Minicraft kit when I was a kid, real nice kit and I learned a lot about wheelgun lockwork.

My local hobby shop has a 12"/1’ M7 bayonet and sheath for something like $40, which is ridiculous because I can get a real M7 + sheath for half that.

I have an M4 replica that I built with parts from Rock River and Bushmaster. It is very nicely detailed, and aside from a few federally mandated dimensional variations, it is almost a perfect replica. It will even fit USGI magazines and feed “replica” ammunition . . . . [;)]

i was thinkin of scratching a 1:1 scale mg42 outta wood or plastic, but then i saw the length…Dang!! i dont have ANY space to put that!!! i can dream…

what about pellet guns?

I’m sure somebody has thought of all this before…

What about airsoft?

can somebody email me like full details of a mg 42? I want to build a 1/4 or 1/2 if I have space. Bbq.of.DooM@gmail.com
