MM enamel #'s to ?

I picked up Merit’s USS Enterprise (CV6) from another member here and the color callouts for a couple of paints are for MM enamels that appear to be gone from the lineup. They are #2157 (a grey) and 2159 (deck blue) Looking for the equivalents in either MM acrylic or Tamiya as those are the two redily available here. Also have some Valleio at HL. Even willing to do a mix if needed, if one can be made to come at least close.

This would be for her Solomons fit.

Thanks

Take a look at Snyder and Short.

And maybe we can hear from Tracy White.

According to their database, Enterprise was either Measure 11 or later Measure 21 in 1942. Both have the deck painted 20-B Deck Blue, but M 11 has 5-S Sea Blue and M 21 has 5-N Navy Blue verticals. In other words, a big blue ship. In my experience, 5-N and 20-B are pretty much the same thing.

Your best results would be finding some Colourcoats enamels, but those are hard to find now. I’d expend the effort for a project like this.

And do post in “Ships”.

Good luck, Art

You can get MM# 2157 here:

I know a LHS near me has both MM colors you’re looking for. PM me if you’d like me to to pick up a couple bottles for you.

214- Thanks for the link and offer. Still sorting it out at to what the correct scheme is as per GM’s link.

GM- I noted in the S & S page that they state that wood decks except for submarines and carriers would be Sea Blue. So I would take that to mean that her flight deck would still be natural teak.

EDIT dug into S & S a little more and found that by mid '41 her flight deck was blue stain as per Richard Best, SBD pilot assigned to her.
